Sorry that it's off-topic, but does a silencer on an airsoft rifle really do anything?

Not for an electric gun. Unlike a real gun where the bulk of the noise comes out the barrel with the explosion of gunpowder, electric airsoft guns make most of their noise from the electric motor whine, which comes from the motor inside the grip and resonates through the body. Same with the gears that the motor is driving. On this gun it would do SFA. Most people just use them to hide longer barrels.
