I got new tires for my Jeep Srt8 a few months back, when I got the wheels back from a dealer shop, one tire valve stem had a metal cap on it. All the valve stem caps were green plastic, one must have gotten lost when the tires were changed over.
Fast forward a few months later, when I had to add air to the front right with the metal cap, the stem turns to powder as I twist the cap off, leaving me with an exposed and leaking valve core.
Don't use steel caps on aluminum stem TPMS's.. it eats the stem via corrosion. 113 bucks later its fixed. New tpms stem came with a plastic cap..
