Got a 2005 Subaru Outback 2.5 XT with 200k Kilo's on it I've been trying to sell for a few months, and got offered $8000.

What do you guys think? Is my 8 year old car with 200k kilo's on it worth significantly more then $8000? It's had the Timing Belt done, and turbo rebuilt, along with brand new tires this year and a remote starter/alarm. I know I'm not going to get the money back for those, but I'd like to think they improve the value of the car a bit.

Your 2 cents...

CBB dealer trade in value for a 2005 XT outback with auto trans is $3,025-$5,650

$500 less if it's manual.

So if someone offered $8,000 I think that's in the ballpark for a private sale.

That's a good deal.

I would say $8000 is fair.

I'd take it, I sold my 2005 Legacy 2.5GT Limited with 205000km last year for $9250 so $8000 for a similar vehicle now seems about right.

Yup, sounds like a fair deal.

I'm surprised someone offered you 8k TBH. I'd sell it.

I agree with everyone in this thread that 8k is a steal on your end.

One thing you're forgetting is that if you got the offer via kijiji then the person is probably a flake and the offer was a spur of the moment thing, when you reply yes they will:

A. ignore you
B. counter offer with an even lower number
C. ignore you

I am thinking that too.

IMO, once ANY car reaches 200k+ it's days are pretty limited.

Two years ago I sold my stock '01 Legacy, 2.5 NA, 200k km's on it for close to $8000 after a few days of being posted on Kijiji. Don't lowball yourself, if someone wants the car bad enough they'll pay. Right now isn't the best time though for a subie. Willing to wait till late fall?

So incredibly true. I've had so many "offers" sent at night and then never hear from them again... Don't give too much weight to it until the person actually calls.

The worst is when they lowball you and then you actually are desperate enough to do it, then you reply with your phone number and never hear from them again..:nut:
