I recently had some flooding in my basement so I believe that the insurance clean up team had turned off the valve for my outside water. Does anyone know where the valve to turn it back on should be located? I'm assuming it is somewhere in the basement but I've no clue where to look?

Thanks for helpful suggestions. :)

Look where the taps pipe comes through the wall, and trace it back.

most likely will be in your utility room.

Mine are both with 2 feet of where the water line comes into the basement.

Where is the water coming from? Water from the outside is probably not covered by your insurance policy.

Mine is in the furnace room, exposed ceiling, easy to see the red valve (smart plumber IMO). Everyone who has an exterior tap ought to know where the shut off is located. In the winter and when on summer vacation I am certain to shut the valve off.

Thanks guys. I'll take another look downstairs.

It was completely covered by insurance (phew!) as the entire basement was a write off. We've just now gotten the basement re-developed and a settlement for contents. It happened a couple of months ago.
