Looking to get another car and have these in mind. Wanted to get your thoughts and opinions on the following cars:
Acura TL
Infinity G35X Sedan
Cadillac CTS

Cross the CTS off your list ASAP lol..

Nothing but problems man.

Realistically go with the G35x because of AWD, but TL's are really nice. Meh it all comes down to price/km/condition.

But yeah, that's my opinion on the matter.

Personally I like the CTS for the drive and the luxuries but the TL is a nice ride too

Not a fan of the G35 appearance or ride

I like the TL more than the G35x (like others have said) because of the ride but also I don't care for the look of the interior. I am indifferent to the Cadillac.

This isn't on your list but have you thought about a TSX? They are a bit more fun to drive IMO and are a bit better on gas.

Thanks I am researching all 3 and from a previous post the CTS has some known issues.

I thought of the TSX but I want a bit more luxury. I might go back and look at it again.

TL>CTS>G35.
I used to have a 05 aspec, loved everything about it especially the interior.

All 2006?

G35x would get my vote. Solid engine. AWD with RWD bias. The only down side is the interior. It's pure shit compare to the other 2.

2006 TL will get my 2nd vote. Comfortable and best looking gen of all TLs. Built like an Accord so sound proofing isn't quite there new, so it only will get worse on used one.

CTS I have no experience with but I just can't bring myself to that interior.

I would take TL, G35X, and CTS. Used to own at 2004 CTS-V. Interior wise the Imports are nicer. CTS does not have the LS engine.

I had a TL for a week, very solid and with some added soundproofing as mentioned and winter tires you're set for a few years. The Infiniti is very nice as well, only drove one (AWD) for a winter weekend, the interior was fine IMO and the owner did not have winter tires, never an issue. Both are solid cars.

Nothing to add to the Caddy.... never looked or been in one.

Looks like it is between the TL and the G35

I dont think you can go wrong with either TL or G35x. Id vote for G35 tho.

Is that generation of TL the one with a lot of transmission issues?

If I recall, you are safe as long as you get 2005 or newer Hondas. Any Honda with V6 that's older all had bad 5sp autos.

I believe I read somewhere that the tranny issues were fixed after 05.

Had a 2003 CTS...never had any issues and was an excellent car. Sold it in 2009 only to get my wife something AWD. Don't know why so much hate for CTS here. Going to get myself a new one down the line.

I had 2 CTS' and both were quite reliable as well. Mine were 05 and 06 both with the 3.6 engine. Only troubles I had were a bad sunroof switch on the first one, leaky diff seals in both and a stuck throttle body on a -35 morning on the 06. All in all after 4.5 years I'd say that's pretty good. Also being RWD I did drive it through winters and never had much issue. Probably got stuck once a year or so. Winter tires make a huge improvement of course and I would consider it a mandatory add on and the LSD in the 06 was noticeably better.

Before I bought my 06 I looked at G35x and hated the interior. Power and handling was good. But did not feel as luxury. I have test driven a couple TL's in the 06/07 range and they were very nice. Comfy and lots of power. Can't comment on reliability though but can't imagine it to be bad.

That sounds like some issues I will not like to deal with on the CTS.

I had a 2004 CTS that my wife drove for about 3 years. I replaced the water pump and that was pretty much it. I also have a 2006 CTSV. It had a clutch issue when new. It was fixed. Nothing else other than regular maintenance and I have 100,000km on it now. Reliable for me.

Was the clutch awarranty repair?

My 2004 CTS-V has been pretty reliable, In the 5 years I've had it the only things i've HAD to replace besides consumables was a broken motor mount (~$250 for aftermarket) and just this year, a fuel pump. Car has seen track\strip use and has over 200k now.

My dad has a 06 G35X, also pretty reliable. Front wheel hub needed to be replaced, couple brake issues.

Prefer the CTS-V to the G35. Was disappointed with the power of the G35, felt slower than the stats suggest... and you can't get the manual with AWD...weak. Can't really comment on the TL, FWD is a deal breaker for me :nut:

I believe they started manufacturing the CTS-V in 2009 and the price is way out of my budget.
I am researching the 2006 CTS to find if there were any issues as someone pointed out earlier.

They built the first generation V starting in 2004 with the 400 hp LS6 engine. In 2006 and 2007 they used the LS2. All were 6 spd manual. Total production was 8898 for all 4 years.
The second generation started in 2009 it has the LSA 556 hp engine. Manual or auto. Bigger car. I prefer my first gen V.

Yes, the clutch was warranty.

I should have also mentioned that these days there are no bad cars. There are however, lots of cars that have not been maintained. ie what is an oil change??? So looking for a suitable car should entail finding which car you like best then making sure it is in good shape.

I think the issues someone pointed out were basically "don't buy because of issues" but didn't mention what they might have been. Go to cadillacforums.com for all info on the CTS. I'm sure there are forums specifically for the other models as well.

Bigger car? I have both, a 2004 V and a 2010 V and they're pretty close in all dimensions. The only dimension difference is the 2010 is definitely heavier. But it's also WAY faster...especially with mods.

I wonder which of these vehicle represents the best value? If the Caddy was a decent deal perhaps it is worthy of consideration, I don't see fifty of them a day like I do with the Infiniti and Acura. Are there a couple of other vehicles the OP ought to be considering above and beyond the original three?

Without knowing the OPs budget, it's hard to give suggestions.

I worked on all of the cars and the CTS had the stupidest of problems. Especially the first generation. Just the TL had the issues with trannys early on. As mentioned do your homework. G35's have their issues too but they are all straight forward. Stereos fail, door lock actuators and window motors fail.

I'd go G35/TL/IS any day of the week over those stupid CTS's.

I always hated the way CTS's shift, maybe because its adaptive and never learned me but it shifts at the stupidest of points.

I am looking to spend up to $15,000.00 depending on the condition and mileage.
