Android Unlocking Question

I am in the market for a Galaxy S4 and am with Rogers.

I found a guy selling one on Kijji but he's with Fido. I know unlock codes are cheap on eBay - anyone know if I need a Fido sim card before i can unlock it or can I do it from the main menu without a sim card?

I think since they are on the same network, you wouldn't need to unlock this phone.

I unlocked an S3 without a sim, so I'm going to say yes but I could be wrong

I used this website to unlock my HTC One (the new one)

It costed $25 and I received the code almost instantly.

I just tried it - you're right! That's awesome, I never knew that. My rogers sim worked perfectly in this Fido phone.
