Yeah. One of these threads. Sorry:p

New car shopping again.

My criteria is pretty vague which is why I'm looking for suggestions, I plan on looking and test driving all day Tuesday Wednesday then buying towards the end of the week/early next week.

Getting tired of my 07 f150. Finding myself doing a lot more highway driving to Edmonton and $147 in gas there and back is getting pointless.

Looking to spend $40 000
200hp minimum (more the merrier) want something fun to drive after being in a pickup for the last year
Fuel mileage isn't a big deal, regardless it'll be better than my truck so no preference here.
Awd preferred but fwd and rwd are okay too
Sedan or wagon
Manual transmission preferred

So far I've looked at the 2013 vw gli and the civic si. GLI was a blast to drive, the SI was a bit dull but seemed like a solid car. Tomorrow I'll look at the WRX and the Ford fusion , but other than that I can't think of anything. So any suggestions beyond?

I have a 2013 WRX and I don't have any major complaints with it. Lots of power and handles well.

Everyone I know who has one loves their Fusion. Also the Cruze seems to be pretty good, I think my friend paid $24k for a pretty loaded out one.

I would buy a slightly used G37X for AWD or just a G37.

I'd also look into the New Genesis coupe V6. 350hp.

And Mustang GT. 420HP.

Slightly used BMW 335XI 300HP

Only two of those are new however.

Nissan Altima V6, the new generation has a much better CVT and the sport model with V6 is really smooth and comfortable. The paddle shifting is silly but actually fun haha.

Or a Maxima. Both are underrated and unfairly bashed because of the CVT's.

I own a Honda SUV work at Toyota recommend a Nissan haha.

Buy something 2 years old and German. You will exceed all your requirements.

2010 Audi S4 would be my top pick, may have to stretch into the low-mid 40's for a good certified sample, but you will get so much more car.

Similar year BMW 335Xi probably my #2 pick.

That would be the highest overall bank for your buck IMO. S4 would be perfect. Night and day better than what you've been test driving as well, and would still have a couple years warranty left (4 left if you buy from a dealer certified).

Or even a 328 would be nice. Probably cost less to maintain than a 335.

I'd go down the audi, merc or infiniti route over bmw.

I've owned 2 newer ones over the last few years (3 and 5 series) and besides the drive, I don't think the quality is there when it comes to esthetics.

The fake leather bmw uses is shit, started cracking and peeling instantly it also absorbs stains and dye like crazy making it near impossible to get mynt again, the painted dash/centre console chips away, steering wheel gets warn super fast including the centre "painted" part starts to rub off and the paint chips so fucking easily.

When I sold my infiniti with 180km on it, it was in way better shape then both my bmws that I sold with around 100km on each. My merc and audi both still look new and are in the 90km rage each.

It's not lack of care either, I get my cars shampooed every 6-8 weeks, I vacuum and wipe down the interior once a week and wash the exterior atleast 2-3 times a week.

There is a 2011 b8 S4 at Calgary BMW with 86k for $39900 I think. There is 2010 with ~60k for $42000 but I can't remember the dealer.

Edit: the 2010 has 50k and is at Calgary BMW, unsure where I saw the 2011

I picked up a rs4 for under 40k with 70k km. if I didn't get that I'd be looking 2010 s4. I hate losing money when buying a brand new car. Keep my used car for abit then sell it for close to what I paid. Or just keep it.
