What are the cheapest ways to ship an item to the states?

Through the post office!

But what exactly are you shipping? The bigger the box, the more expensive the shipping

Small box (cell-phone box) with mindisc stuff inside.
i looked up canadapost and it sent me to purolater ( I guess they are joined? never knew that before..)

UPS quote is the cheapest so far, with standard shipping rate of 20CAD.

Well I haven't heard any bad stories. I've used UPS a number of time and have never had a bad or slow shipment. The duties did piss me off, but this time I'm sending, so that doesn't concern me.

Usually Canadapost is cheaper than UPS. Check with them too.
