This will annoy motorists more than it will cyclists. Imagine all the cyclists downtown that will be on the road now that they don't really have to put in much effort to pedal, while being "green" or whatever. The only thing that would annoy me as a cyclist is more traffic on the pathways.

Pretty badass design though.

They are too fast to be allowed in the USA, I wonder if they are allowed in Canada?

It's all cool cruising when there is juice in the battery, just make sure that it doesn't run out on the uphills, the thing weighs 50lbs! I thought mine is heavy lol.

Cruising that fast on such an unpredictable pathway would be horrible. I really clocked 62km/h with my roadbike going downhill out in Springbank on a nice road, and I was thinking after, if I bailed I'd be fucked! Wearing only some super protective spandex and a bike helmet :nut: Going 45km/h on the pathways in Calgary would be so painful for your ass.

No shocks? No pegs? WTF?!?

That's a bad ass Electro bike though. Cooler than all the other ones I've seen.

Most cars can do way over the highest speed limit, but it is left to the driver to take care not to exceed it.

"However, its top assisted speed of 45km/h (28mph) is 13km/h faster than is allowed under US federal law and 20km/h more than is permitted in the EU*, including Britain.

In a letter to press and dealers, product manager Marc Faude admitted: "Due to regulatory requirements, there are many markets, including the USA, where the Turbo is simply too fast to be legal.""

"Under a 2004 European Directive, electric bikes are allowed a maximum assisted speed of 25km/h (15.6mph). However, some European nations have got around this by introducing a 'superbike' class of e-bike that slots in between bicycles and mopeds. For example, Germany’s ‘leichtmofa’ class includes electric bikes capable of assistance up to 45km/h (28mph) and with up to 500 watt motors. A licence and insurance is required but not a helmet and the bikes are not allowed on bike paths. "

Thats what I can find in an article online.

That is cool! I can just imagine the looks on the hardcore road bikers faces with their lightweight speed bikes, as you go whipping past them on something with full suspension. :burnout:

I would pass the spandex guys up hills with a smoke hanging out of my mouth and holding a coffee in one hand.

damn, imagine if you nailed head on with another one around a blind corner or something... it would be a 90km collision!

This is actually wrong, two objects heading towards each other at 45km per hour still result in a 45km crash. It would be the same force as if running into a wall. Of course not exactly but close, there are many other factors to consider.

God I would buy this instead of a car just so I won't have to deal with traffic. And you wouldn't even sweat it in the uphills so you can just ride in your work suite.

Not if a skinny cyclist collides with a fat bastard on a heavy bike, technically speaking. ;)

Technically speaking, fat bastards don't bike.

I see plenty of fatties on my commute. I applaud them for trying to get in shape. Me being one of those said fatties.

Can't say I have seen ones that big.

Fuck, one her legs is the size of two of mine. She must just crank those pedals like a mofo!
