Looking for suggestions on how best to renovate the two washrooms in my condo. The rest of my condo has been renovated while the bathrooms are still very "builder standard" quality and I'd like remedy that.

Being "condo sized" I have fairly limited space to work with but I suspect others have worked with a similar constraint and may have ideas.

In terms of tying into the rest of the condo; my kitchen has a black granite counter and island and white cabinets. The floors are dark/wide hardwood. In terms of finishes, I like the idea of adding nicer tile and hopefully stone and natural wood. My biggest concern is that if I go with stone type accents and black granite counters it may end up making the small spaces seem even smaller.

Bathroom 1: Full bathroom with a tub/shower

- Finishes in here are pretty terrible (alignment of doors, frameless mirror, paint job, etc)
- While I never use it, I think I need to keep the tub for resale (thoughts?) but would be interested in hearing ideas on how to make it look nicer

Bathroom 2: Full bath (I think it still meets the definition?) with a shower but not tub

- Much smaller than my first bathroom, equally poor finishes
- My original thoughts are that I'd like to replace the fibreglass shower with an all tile shower (possibly with a river rock floor?) and frameless glass door. Can anyone suggest what this might cost?

Not too sure what kind of cost I'd be looking at in total but rough budget, I'd like to be somewhere under $10k. If this isn't a reasonable number I'll just do one at a time.

All input appreciated!

I swear the builders in Calgary toss a picture around and say "ok everyone is going to make it like this for the next 5 years". I seriously have the exact same bathroom. Tub, tile, vanity, the whole works.

Im also like you, that I want to swap out the ugly bland vanity. I have already tiled the floor.

Agreed, there does seem to be a standard that gets shopped around for a given year for sure.

The bathroom floors in my place are also tiled, but based on the attention to detail they've shown for things like grouting, paint, etc I'll be curious to see what's underneath my vanities when I remove them.

I did the same and I did it myself. Paint and wallpaper from Home Depot, shelves from Ikea, art and whatnot from Homesense, light fixture from Lowes, vanity and mirror from a vancouver vanity place shipped to here with white quartz, undermount sink, brushed faucet and harware, all softclose doors. Will do tile later on with the rest of the condo. Shower tile was done last year and will leave it.
