I have a '93 Isuzu Trooper. It has an oil pressure gauge reading from 0 to 110 lbs per sq inch with a mark for 30 and 55lbs in the middle. The Troop runs fine. I just want to know what the oil pressure should read?

When it is warming up it is towards 110. After warm up, at 70 mph 3,000 RPM, it runs between 30 and 55 lbs, and at idle it runs between 10 and 30, closer to 10, there is no mark for 10, but that is a guess.

Is this a normal range?

What would I watch for that would be a sign the engine is having oil pressure related problems? It has 171,000 miles.

Any Help would be appreciated.

it should sit at and stay at 55 (in your case) the only major worry is if it sits at 0 while you drive... that means you lost a gasket or ring

The higher the pressure the better for your Engine, but if its to high its starts to affect your HP, although on higher km car higher oil pressure will result in increased oil consumption

1. So the fact that it goes down to say 10 lbs at idle, is that normal?

2. Since it does not stay at 55 lbs at highway speed, is that cause for concern now? (It stays between 30 & 55)

BTW the owners manual was no help at all, it says anywhere within the gray line is okay which is from 0 to 110.

3. Since it is a higher mileage vehicle, is it going to get lower as the motor wears more?

4. If I understand your answer, just be very concerned if you start having virtually no oil pressure while in the normal driving range, is that right?

yeah oil pressure varies for various resons so long as you dont hit ) oil pressure and you get a oil Light on the dash then you are more than safe..
