I can't believe there isn't a thread already. The season starts tomorrow!!

I've got a long year ahead as a Jets fan lol. At least Sanchize got hurt and I can pretend to have hope that Geno will turn the team around. :(

Fixed the title cause I'm not spending 5 months looking at "Nfl".

Speaking of Sanchez, let's start this thread off with a reminder about how the Jets can only go up from here:

Also that thanksgiving game was hilarious. If I remember correctly the pats scored 3 scores in like 40 seconds and 3 straight plays with that stellar fumble

Yup, it was even higher earlier in the week. I'm all over the ravens to cover the 7.5 point spread and even outright win.

Welker left because he was a free agent and wanted the exact same salary they ended up giving to Amendola. The Patriots said no (after lowballing him) so he left.

And that was after Tom brady took a pay cut so that they could keep some of their core guys and keep winning.

For the money, would you rather have (6.0 mil) Welker or (6.2 mil) Amendola on your team?

I feel like I'm the only person who remembers how absolutely flukey the Baltimore playoff win was in Denver, and how mediocre a quarterback Joe Flacco is.

Nobody has forgotten. But you seem to be missing how much value is in that underdog bet.

Falco is pretty decent at season openers to.

Stolen From Elsewhere:

"In his five seasons, Flacco's completed 58.9 percent of his 168 Week 1 attempts for 1,207 yards while throwing eight touchdown passes and just two interceptions. Not too shabby. It's even better when you take out his rookie season (a.k.a. his first game ever) -- Flacco's averaged 268.5 passing yards while completing 60.4 percent of his passes in season openers the last four years. All eight of his touchdown passes (and both of his interceptions) came in those games.

Add in the fact that the Broncos definitely won't have Von Miller and very well might not have Champ Bailey and it's not hard to imagine a scenario where Flacco puts up big stats on Thursday night."

But now that I have taken the Ravens, I am sure a Bronco's win is soon coming haha

Blown coverage by the Denver D does not count as flukey IMO. Denver D is weaker this year as well I think. But it's football you never know what is going to happen. My money is on BAL ML and +8.

Ndamukong Suh has been fined $100,000 for his low block of Vikings C John Sullivan in Sunday’s win.
Suh’s lucky he avoided the second suspension of his career after taking a dangerous and completely unnecessary shot at Sullivan’s knee. Suh is one of the very best players in the league, but his act is long past thin. It’s a symptom of a coaching staff that’s been struggling to instill discipline for the entirety of Jim Schwartz’s five-year tenure. Source: Dave Birkett on Twitter Sep 10 - 2:50 PM

Chargers just had a really really good half. It was the 4th game of rivers career that he had thrown 3 TDs in a half. Plus a first play turnover by the Texans.

Second half the Texans showed what they are made of when they embarrassed the chargers by scoring 24 unanswered points.

Also Suh is a retard, guy is a (4th?) time offender. Yet he keeps making dirty hits/cheap shots. His fines aren't hard hits like meriweather/harrisson etc used to deliver. They are frustrated entitled young player ones. If he doesn't watch out he is going to get a nasty suspension this year (which I'd put money on). Nothing like losing a million plus of income each season

You mean the bullshit roughing the center on the FG Houston kicked which gave them a first down, then a touchdown and all the momentum. Terrible call. Even the NFL's head of officiating said it was a mistake and the wrong call.

Week one usually doesn't mean anything but the Jets have a much better defense than Buffalo and Amendola is out (again).

I think the 49ers/seahawks game showed you that with week two they weren't ready to handle the noise/silent calls/counts.

Not to mention they are playing short manned at the WR, davis got hurt, and also kaepernick wasn't having an accurate game. His O-line left him dry a few times.

I'll give props to the seahawks though, they looked pretty damn good.

It makes no sense unless the Browns are intentionally tanking to get a higher draft pick next year, but even with Richardson, I doubt they would have finished better than second last.

So yeah, it makes no sense.

And when you consider there are at least half a dozen other teams that need a RB, and will finish worse than Indy this year, it makes even less sense. Why not make that trade with the Jets? Or Jacksonville? Or the Raiders?

Also, next years draft is supposed to be pretty loaded.

colinxx235
09-19-2013, 08:41 AM
Well the thing that doesn't make sense is why did you trade up last year so you could pick him 3rd overall to turn around and trade him to a team like the colts. Which given the talent, probably 20-26th overall range....

Not that I like the browns or really care (Steelers fan), but that is some terrible management going on.

If he stays healthy the colts will be just laughing this one to the playoffs.

Don't forget their original pick they'll get from their finish for this year (which will probably be a top 5 now).

They've probably decided that Wheeden isn't their QB of the future, and this year's draft class has some pretty solid talent.

Also can't forget that, as good as Richardson can be, he's averaging south of 3.5 yards per carry in his career. So at the very least, whatever they got going on in Cleveland isn't working for Richardson anyways.

On a fantasy note, I love having 3 running backs from one team, with my 4 being Steven Jackson. :banghead:

I'm liking:
ATL +1
CHI -2.5
GB -2.5
MIN -6.5

Can someone talk me out of MIN -6.5? Ponder blows, but Browns will be starting a 3rd string QB, and will either have Rainey or McGaHee for RB

Yes, he will be much better on the Colts team. Luck is actually a good QB and so the defenses will have to focus evenly on the passing and running games.

I can't wait! Go Colts! :hitit:

Plus Luck can run and Richardson can catch.

Min should win big. At least by a TD.

Every team loads up the box, especially when Weeden is the QB lol.

It's a different front office that drafted him, so they also probably didn't think too highly of him anyways.

^^^^ word.

Funny quote from tonight's game. Something along the lines of 'teams have to worry about making sure third offence puts up more points than the bears defence.'

Broncos :D I am 5-0 just like them in my fantasy league. Peyton is killing it. Jacksonville should be allowed to forfeit next week because they are going to get embarrassed.

I think it was Adam Schefter who brought it up when explaining why the Broncos were 28 point favourites:

On Sunday the Broncos scored 51 points. Up to, and including week 5, the Jaguars have scored 51 points total.

Denver Broncos ‏@DenverBroncos 8h

The #Broncos' 51 points in yesterday's win are as many points as the Jaguars have scored all season.

That broncos spread is dirty. I'm in a pick pool with friends and no clue.

Do broncos go up an easy 21 points and pull manning/milk clock? Or do they just let the biggest raping in NFL history commence....
