After 11 weeks of blood, sweat and a lot of tears, the Golden Inn Restaurant in Chinatown is proud to finally re-open their doors since the catastrophic flood that hit Calgary on June 20, 2013. The restaurant is located a block from the Bow river and was hit pretty bad. It required renovations throughout most of the restaurant and thorough sanitation.

To celebrate the restaurants grand re-opening and 36 year anniversary, they are offering all guests 10% off the bill everyday until September 30, 2013!

The restaurant has an 88% “Like It” rating on Urbanspoon (http://www.urbanspoon.com/r/15/190649/restaurant/Chinatown/Golden-Inn-Calgary#). It's renowned for its delicious Cantonese-style dishes and super-late hours. The salt and pepper squid is purported to be the best in the city.

My parents have owned the restaurant since 1977 and this is their life and passion, your support would be truly appreciated.

Didn't know that this was a Beyond affiliate! I used to eat down there all the time! I'll make it a mission to head over that way at some point. I haven't eaten Chinese food downtown for a while now. I'm about due!

Glad your back!
I will also make a point to support this restaurant.

The only time my in-laws go out to eat is here.

The Spicy Garlic deep fried crab is amazing!

Highly recommended!

This has been my go to spot for years (decades? frightening thought) for late night food to follow a hard night of drinking. The food is always great and the staff is always super-friendly, even when you probably don't deserve it on account of being a drunken idiot.

I'll definitely renew my relationship with this place to give back to a place that has given me so much happiness.

You'd better give old Diamond Jim here an extra 40% off, sounds like the flood has really hit him hard. :)

Thanks for all the compliments and support!

This is just another reason why I love beyond and Calgary so much. It's been inspiring watching the city come together to help flood victims.

Do you still give out sliced oranges at the end of a meal?

Went there friday, highlight was the sliced chicken with sticky rice under the crispy skin with gravy on the side.

And my favorites there are the salt and pepper jumbo prawn and the stuffed chicken wings with shrimp, sticky rice or mushrooms and bamboo shoots

We had a successful re-opening! It's been a while since I've seen my parents smile.

The restaurant was packed on Saturday and had a lineup. If you plan on visiting the restaurant this weekend, I suggest you make a reservation online on OpenTable (http://www.opentable.com/single.aspx?rid=113074&restref=113074) or by calling 403-269-2211.

I just called my mom and told her and a server named Benny to take care of you.

They asked me to describe you so they can pick you out from the crowd, but I have no idea what you look like. I hope they find the right table.

To be honest, who cares about the 10%.
The food is good. I was there at 10:30 pm last night and had a good meal.
Didn't get the 10% but I'm glad I didn't. Pretty shitty thing that happened to them and I'm happy to give them some business.

Would come again. Hard to find a place that opens really late at night and isn't a dump.

Off the top of my head, I would say Benny's been working at the restaurant for at least 10 years. He's a huge car enthusiasts. He uses all his vacation time to travel the world and attend major car shows.

Lenny's been working at the restaurant for at least 30 years (before I was born). He's the short chubby server. All the ladies from the late night crowd love him and are always giving him hugs.

I helped man the Golden Inn table at the 'Taste of Chinatown' event on Wednesday night and was interviewed by Global TV.

If it wasn't obvious, I was super nervous :)

Calgary restaurant reviewer John Gilchrist recently interviewed my two brothers and I about Golden Inn's recovery from the flood. Look for the article in today’s Calgary Herald and Swerve Magazine (Friday, January 24, 2014).

All the publicity helped us quickly recover from the flood.
