Big guy with sign

At the U, I occasionally see this fat dude who is always holding a sign that says something different everytime I see it.

Everyone who knows/have seen him will know what i'm talking about, whats up with him?

Is he holding the sign to deliver a message, be cool, or maybe the sign has some mystical chick-magnet attribute to it? Someone fill me in please.

i think he's a SS student... very intellectual when you actually hear him speak.

i thought he graduated :( but i'm relieved to know he is still around.

Many refer to him as "sign-guy"

his messages on his sign are pretty cool though :thumbsup:
if my guess is right that he's a SS student, he could be a Psych major, or a Philosophy major... so fooling around with our heads :D

Everyone knows him and talks about him. Plus I've found some of his signs to be somewhat motivating or inspirational or just allowing for expansion of the mind. I wouldn't be surprised if he was a philosophy major!

I was pretty sure he lives in the area somewhere too! IT's funny because I saw him last winter working at Paramount Chinook working concessions. And I stood in line trying to figure out why he looked familiar and it took me 15 minutes to realize that it was Sign Guy, he just wasn't carrying his sign. You'd be amazed how different he looks when he doesn't have the sign.

I think people need to lighten up about Sign Guy. It's not like he's harming anyone or anything. So what if he is doing it for the attention. Maybe he's just doing it because he feels like it. People just don't like it because it's different. At the end of the day, he does something that none of us would be willing to do because then we'd be the subject of the comments that you guys are making. That fact that he does it despite the snickering is something that I admire because he thinks outside of the box.

Think about it this way, school is very stressing...... maybe he's just trying to bring some fun into the school... and trying to help the students relax a little bit.

Exactly. Awhile back the Gauntlet did an article on him, and he said he did it simply because he could. As well, he talked about how people are like robots when they are walking around school so caught up in their own lives they forget about being human. I can totally see it. I think it's great, something that everybody knows about and everyone can share memories about.

I think sign guy's real name is Austin ... it was nice to see him around. I don't know about everyone else, but it was a good laugh reading most of his signs. Though they were obviously pointless quotes, there was the odd one that cracked me up (ie: when his sign said out of order and he stood infront of the ladies washroom by Bennys :D )

Hey guys, new here. I was actually doing a search for "green crx calgary" on google and landed in the forums here. (There's a green CRX with a huge wing that's up in the Northwest all the time, I wanted to figure out who it was).

With the sign guy, he's been around since 2001. He always walked by Benny's (the eatery on the main floor of Science B) where my friends in 4th year chemistry always hung out. One day, a couple of the chem students just lost it, grabbed his sign and ran off yelling "WE HAVE THE SIGN!!!!!" with the sign guy chasing them in pursuit.

The green CRX was created by the gy who lives behind me. He had 2 of em both with the Escort Cosworth style wing. He sold the green one 2 years ago and still has the blue one eventhough I havn't seen it yet this year. I havn't asked him about mods, he usually drives slow and is probably more into show than go which is why he is chose HONDA haha! j/k!
