Since roopi's posting his new phone, I might as well post mine too :).

Motorola mpx200, running Windows Smartphone 2002 OS. Very stable, very reliable, works awesome. No flaws (surprisingly!). Awesome sound quality, and the inet features are wicked. Windows media player is cool too, got beyond videos on my phone :).

Here are some pics.

rage2 good to see you picked one up. Are you using it with Rogers or Fido? How's the overall RF? Looks like a nice phone. Is the phone metal or plastic? Is the front bezel on it made the same the V60i one? Sorry for all the q's but this is the first time I've seen some decent pictures of this phone and I haven't had a chance to see it in person yet and play. Oh yeah is the faceplate removable?

Oh and how's the battery life. I think I want one now. :D

Is it for sale? If so you better post a price before you get banned. :D Figured I'd ask since it is in the Marketplace right now.

Let's try to answer everything in 1 post.

Price paid - about $550 with overnight shipping. Since the motorola unlock servers went down, prices for unlocked motos are frickin' expensive :(. $100 to get the damn thing unlocked ($650 total).

Network - Fido. I wouldn't spend that kinda money on a phone for rogers lol.

Overall RF - surprisingly good, even tho there's no antenna. I've never used a moto GSM phone, but I see full signal more than the T68i, especially in Arbour Lake.

Phone is sturdy, but outside is plastic. Non replacable faceplate. Front bezel feels like the v60 bezel.

Battery life, this is what I'm amazed about. On saturday, I connected to GPRS and MSN messenger at 11am. I messaged ppl all day to test and get used to the typing interface. 6pm, I got home and checked battery meter. 83%. I didn't charge it all weekend, and used it extensively today, including tons of games, calls, tests, etc. Got home to charge it today, 31% remaining.

The battery is waaaaay better than my pocket pc. I'm thinking of replacing my PPC with this thing... just trying to figure out a way to make GPRS calls stay on even when accepting and making calls (T68i does this). Right now I have to reconnect to GPRS after each phone call if I wanna stay online.

Oh man! That's so pimp! So does that mean you won't be getting the v600 now? Hahaha!

I never planned on getting a v600 :).

I might still move back to a pocket PC eventually, when the HP 6000 series comes out with built in GPRS. But man, I'm loving the mpx200's battery life!

Hmm I've been on the fence with this phone, not sure if i want it or not. How much is the monthly bill on fido for all the services you are using?

How does it display large photos? Does it shrink them to fit the screen or do you have to pan?

Fido doesn't use the 850 MHz band and it doesn't need it so it doesn't really affect him. Only benificial if you are one of the poor people on Rogers.

Sweet phone rage!!!

haha, I'm trying HARD to get off Telus right now. For now, I'm carrying 2 phone hehe.

It scales large pictures fairly well. I was sitting at T&T Honda the other day and was reading thru that first year college girl thread. Let's just say ppl were looking at me funny when I saw that pic! haha, nice and detailed :).

The picture with the photo radar article, I could only read the title though, the text got too small.

Any good links for pics? I've seen a few but they are rumored to be fakes. This phone keeps getting delayed as well. No surprise from Moto though. Look at the V600.

I need to get my ass off Rogers and into something better.... I am really getting pissed off with the phone I got, and my plan sucks ballz...

That would be a nice upgrade, but that $650 price tag is a little steep for a phone...

:bigpimp: :bigpimp: phone Rage..

No, that's why I'm carrying 2 phones :).

Trying to see if I can live with the sporatic outages that Fido has in some areas.

Geez, GSM phones are so cool these days... stupid Telus with their boring phones and expensive rate plans. Too bad there's no Fido coverage in Kingston. :(
