I was reading in the other outlet mall thread an I saw some mention of tax exemption in the Washington outlets. I just came from Vegas and paid around 8% and was wondering how the exemption works? Does this just apply in Washington or other US states?

In Texas I saw a tax refund office at one of the outlets but didn't pop in to ask questions.

When your in Washington State and you produce your Alberta Drivers licence at check out you are exempt from paying any state tax as your not a resident.

So at Costco, walmart, target etc etc, produce your AB Drivers Licence and they make you sign a little form sometimes indicating that your purchase is not for use in the state.

Some places might not like to do it as its extra work, but it also applies to people from other states too.
