2006 Bmw M6

Seen here for the first time on a remote lake in Northern Finland is a prototype of BMW's M version of the 6-Series coupe.

Back in 1989 the Bavarian carmaker had an M6 on the market; it lived for six years. It became a legend and collectors' item, since only 5855 units were built.

Now, after almost a decade, it looks like the legend will return. The pictured prototype is featuring large air intakes in the front skirt and - according to insider information - is powered by a 5.5 liter V-10 engine delivering about 500 hp. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is rated around 4.5 seconds, but top speed will be cut off electronically at 250 km/h (155 mph).

The new model will come on the market in 2005 and will compete with the Porsche 911 Carrera, the Mercedes SL 55 AMG and the Aston Martin DB9.

I want to like this car, the 6 series from BMW, but just something about the back of the car that really bugs me. That Porsche like ducktail thing looks really tacked on like a afterthought.

meh, the car isnt that nice looking. That pic seems like its just a reg. 6 series (as mentioned above). Are you sure its the M6?

Yea it's most likely not a M6 because if you look at the exhaust pipes they only have dual tips, not quad ones like you usually see on a "M" car.

Find me a nice luxury brand car can do 0-62mph in 4 second,(which is 0-60mph is 3.7 second) and cost less then then the M6 (guessing ~$150,000 ) And I will buy it now ! ha ha .. :rofl: :rofl:

fares_sayegh since when is 4.5 seconds 0-60 slow? last time I checked a porsche 911 turbo is 4.2 and that is far from a slow car.

it doesnt matter what i drive, but looking at the present M5 (0-60 4.8) so the new M5 has to be less than that, and the M6 has to be way less than that. smaller car and bigger engine, if they bring the 4.8s down only to 4.5s, then they didnt do anything special.

0-60mph is not equal to 0-100Km/hr


4.5 second 0-100km .. is about 0-60mph for 4.2 / 4.3 second.
