So I was looking at a show home and came across some nice painted walls. I asked the lady and she said it is not wall paper it is called textured painting.

I was wondering how is this done? Is it expensive to get someone to do it?

I've done a similar technique with a product called Venetian Plaster by Behr. It was very easy to do and turned out great. It takes longer and uses more product than traditional painting because you need to do several coats in order for it to look good. I would describe the venetian plaster look to be similar to marble or suede.

Here is a good how to guide for different textured paint finishes from Behr:

Thanks for the link, that is a nice texture also.

The one I seen in a show home had drips that looked pretty cool, kind of hard to describe.
