Didn't see this coming. I am a big fan of his books and games of course. Wonder if the December book will still come out. Everyone is watching George RR Martin but not Tom


Tom Clancy, the best-selling U.S. author of popular military thrillers such as The Hunt for Red October and Patriot Games, has reportedly died at the age of 66.

Clancy's publisher, G.P. Putnam's Sons, confirmed to the New York Times that Clancy died Tuesday night in a Baltimore hospital. The cause of death was not provided.

Many of Clancy's novels were turned into successful movies, including "The Hunt for Red October," "Patriot Games" and "Clear and Present Danger."

Having said that, Clancy was basically Robert Ludlum with more American pride and poorer vocabulary. I remember reading The Bear and the Dragon (2000) and liking it. However, I recently read Dead or Alive (2010) which was just terribly written.

ouch thats rough. I became a huge fan of his once I got into the Splinter Cell games.
