I'm trying to diagnose an ignition timing issue. Looking for a oem gen3 ecu for an MR2 harness just plug in and check the timing.

My timing seems quite advanced even at idle but the gears all look lined up. I'm wondering if my blitz Access ECU is really aggressive with the ignition maps even from idle and the easiest way to do so might be just to plug in an OEM ecu.

Let me know if you can help.

You've verified the mechanical timing, now check your ignition timing:
Paper clip in TE1 and E1 of diagnostic port. This should stop the ECU regardless if Blitz or Stock from moving time timing around while you're verifying/setting it.

Start car
Timing light on cyl #1
Check that timing is 10° BTDC

If not adjust your dist. cap till it is.

Thanks, I have done this actually but was not entirely sure if jumping the diagnostic ports would stop the blitz ECU from doing whatever it wants.

Don't know either but it should. Otherwise, you'll have to find a stock ecu.

I can't see any other way to set timing properly because otherwise, the ecu is constantly adjusting timing and you can't set it up.
