Doing some market research on the used car market particularly from a buyers point of view. What sites or companies do you use when searching for used vehicles to purchase?

Use most of them but I voted for Kijiji. Seems like dealers are abandoning autotrader and primarily list on kijiji now. I also use Adesa and other dealer only auction sites since I have access to them.

You could also add an Auctions option too as some people buy from regal, Michener, graham and other public auctions.

It'll sound totally camp, but I honestly do check Beyond first. Sure, the selection's relatively small, but many sellers have a pretty detailed description and history writeup, and there's a far better chance the information included will be accurate, as compared to Kijiji.

Kijiji's definitely #2 though, just for sheer volume alone.

Honestly, I pretty much only check kijiji. Often times if I find something interesting there I will then search around and see if they have posted it in other places. As mentioned above if there is a post on beyond for the same car it usually includes more information.

Most dealers list on Kijiji and / or Autotrader. I'm assuming Autotrader.ca went to a free listing set up due to Kijiji taking over the used market. A couple of months ago we needed to sell the wife's car, put it on Kijiji and it was gone in a few days, full price, no discount. I had enough calls I could have sold that car ten times over.

I use Kijiji almost exclusively because there are far more for-sale ads for local/province-wide than any other medium. Plus it's free! I've bought and sold tons of stuff on Kijiji, it's great. I wonder how Kijiji overtook Craig's List. Beyond is definitely convenient because sellers typically have a reputation to uphold but it's not my first choice.

Kijiji because it has the most cars on it, that's what everyone in Calgary uses. When I lived in Van I used Craigslist because that was what everyone there used, kijiji Vancouver had nothing on it. Hopefully that's changed, kijiji is far better than Craigslist with all the search filters etc.

I go to Kijiji first for anything used, then Autotrader and then I briefly glance at Beyond and one other car site.

Generally Kijiji and Autotrader have the same stock (especially when it comes to dealers inventory) so I use whichever app works best, which happens to be Kijiji right now for the types of searches I have been doing.

I also post my cars on Kijiji first, then Autotrader and have sold two vehicles on Kijiji in the last few months despite what Teflon Jim says is not possible.
