It's an older house and the water shut off valve to the toilet is leaking at the handle. I googled how to remove it but all the results I'm finding and the videos I've watched have a packing nut of some sort. Can anyone tell me how to remove this shut off valve?

The only thing that I could take off was the handle

thats copper coming out of the wall? its probably soldered on... so you could try using some heat... or just cut it off :dunno:

If you can find an exact same valve, you could just replace the valve component of it and see if that fixes it vs replacing the whole thing, since it seems like the valve component disassembles.

For the time, effort and cost, just cut off the old one and solder on a new one.

Shut water off.
Cut off old valve.
Replace with new sharkbite valve. No soldering, no crimping. Takes about 3 minutes.http://www.homedepot.ca/wcsstore/HomeDepotCanada/images/catalog/17036.697285230378_PrimaryImage_23037-00_4.jpg

Thanks guys, got to Rona and the guy talked me into buying a propane torch saying it's the only way to get it off. After I got home I just cut it off and slipped a new compression valve on and mopped up. Thanks for the help.
