Down 85th st and about 26th ave sw there is a huge wall of dirt and it looks like they are building a new development or some houses down there? (not sure)

I cant find any info about it but the construction is closing 85th st @ 26th ave sw for 3 days this week.

prob laying foundation/pipes in for a development. Maybe Springbank Hill phase XX. They've had dirt moved around there for a little while now... to twin/fit a part of that road.

I hope they twin that road but i cant see it unless they buy some land from some homeowners.

It's utility work for what looks like a new development just off of the existing 26th Ave spur (which will be renamed to Mystic Ridge Gate SW). About 35-40 lots.

Found that on calgary.ca

Oh lordy, hopefully they do something with 85th then around that area, it's already crazy with people who cannot stick to their side of the road and it's only going to get worse.

Thanks kenny, I see from google now that the homes are starting from 1.2 million as well.

Mystic Ridge is the most retarded name for a neighborhood that is in a valley.

We were looking at house in there, but it felt so Stepford Wives.

Just a heads up to the folks living around there, this morning driving down 17th I noticed a sign saying 85th is closed at 26th and to use 69th and 17th again/

85th is soon not going to connect to lower springbank, and there is a bus trap going in at the end of Fortress drive. That effectively cuts off the entire area, 85th will be the only way in and out for the community. As it is now, it isn't suitable, that road looks like a death trap when the snow starts to fly.

Who is building in that are?

Thats gay, I wonder when they are going to put that in, I quite like my quick travel time along fortress drive to signal hill shopping center.

Are they still building there? This was 3 years ago before we built our current house.

If it wasn't for the ring road, we would probably be building something in Timberline right now.

I think timberline must still have some lots left, they still have both show homes open. Mystic ridge is further along 85th towards 17th ave sw. They are describing the homes as estate housing with semi acreages whatever that means.

Its going to suck when they close off that road. Anyone know how soon that will happen?

Probably 0.5 - 1 acre lots.

I think it's closed now to be honest.
The last time the closed it for road works there was date that it would be open again, nothing on the notice I drove by this morning other than it was closed.

I agree, it's going to suck having to go around to 69th and I won't dare use 101st when the weather has been bad.

I saw it was only supposed to be closed for 2 or 3 days. The actual access to Lower Spingbank shouldn't be cut off until the ring road gets going which, depending on the vote this week, probably isn't for a couple of years yet.

I'm still shocked that they approved 101st as the passage for the ring road.

It's just to the east of 101 St between 101 and the develoment that's already there. Since 101 is basically the western edge of the city there aren't many other places it could go.

I'm not, as there is no alternative route that makes sense.

It will actually run just east of 101 st and it looks like 101 street will still exist as a local access road to those properties between 17 Ave and Bow Trail. 101 st access to 17 Ave will be gone though.

edit: what cet said! haha

Its only closed for 3 days this week while they put those utilities in.

I wonder if the govt needs to buy the existing properties that are just east of 101st as well. Theres atleast one or two homes and a church and a golf driving range in the way of the proposed ring road.

You can see here where the road is going.
It's east of the church and driving range. This is from 16th to bow Trail.

Edit.
Here is the section from Bow Trail to Highway 8 is anyone is interested.

Looks like there is only 1 house in the way which the government probably already owns or will expropriate.
There is another one inside the TUC which may be affected as well.

Looks that way, probably because of the quarry thats right there. I have friends that built a house in castle keep and they werent concerned about stoney tr, believing that it will be far away from them, but looking at the maps, they will be able to see the interchange.

Castle Keep is a stones throw, literally, from the the Ring Road.

This map shows it better. The west facing houses all back onto it.
