Need to setup a few rooms with 7.1 systems. Any idea? They will all be in-wall and in-ceiling speakers. Any suggestions? Will be checking out the B&W line sometime this week.

My in-ceiling rear channels are from SpeakerCraft. They can do custom in-wall set-ups for the entire room. The only authorized dealer I know of is SmartSpace. Maybe give them a shout?

Unless the room is extremely long/large, I suggest just sticking with 5.1 as the separation is very difficult to hear with 7.1 otherwise.

You don't need much for in-ceiling speakers especially for rear surrounds, the center channel and sub woofer do 80-90% of the work during a movie in a HT.

B&W, Paradigm, and Definitive Technology make some very good ones that won't break the bank too bad. There are many more options as well. As long as you don't buy absolute garbage, I doubt you'd ever tell the difference between one brand to the next for basic surround effects.

If you're using in-walls for fronts & the center channel, the same brands above offer some very good stuff still.

And don't cheap out on a sub, most people do

Monoprice?

I use their speakers for my 7.1 setup with a boston acustic sub and a pioneer receiver and they sound great. Monoprice price can't be beat and you can read the reviews on each speaker, and they are very highly rated. I have no issues with mine and use it for my movie theater room in the basement.

My main HT room is all standalone stuff.

My buddy at www.pinnaclehometech.com can get you amazing prices on Boston, Paradigm, & Klipsch.

Klipsch? I helped my dad put the speakers for his 7.1 system in the ceiling. He put in the CDT-5800-C and CDT-5650-C. They sound great.

I have monoprice speakers for my TV as well. I didn't want to break the bank on speakers that were basically just for watching TV as it isnt where I'll watch movies. I only just installed them though so I'll know by the weekend what they're like.

I have Monitor Audio in the basement. They sound great, and were recommended by another poster here.

Thanks, I will look into all these brands. I'm hoping to have everything picked out before the electrician starts wiring, that way he can install all the brackets as well.

I love Paradigm stuff. It's not too expensive and always sounds good no matter which line you get. Even got my friend converted to them.

Also apparently they love them in England.
