Hey guys, I'm new to the forums so I wasn't quite sure where I should place this thread. Hopefully it's in the right spot, if not, could a mod please move it to an appropriate place? Thanks!
Anyways, I've been drawing my whole life and specialize in realistic animals, but I decided to branch out and try new things. I've always wanted to try my hand at a car and so did such recently and I thought I'd share what I've done so far.

I wasn't quite sure what kind of style I wanted to go for but I decided on having a realistic look merging into sketchy into inked, to really emphasize that it's a drawing. I've seen some really sick drawings of cars, but sometimes they just look so real it's like "well you might have just taken a picture, it looks the same". Then I've seen some b&w sketches and while some are good, it's just boring.

And here's where I'm kicking myself... I don't know why I decided to go with blue (maybe because that was the colour of the reference picture I'm using?? I dunno), kind of wishing I went with either lime green or dark red. Probably going to try and darken it so it's more like a cosmic blue instead of that signature wrx blue haha fml.
In any case, I was originally planning on doing a carbon fiber hood and top (though the ref pic is just a stock blue mr) but I fear it might make the overall picture too dark.
Opinions? Carbon fiber or stay with the blue?
Also what do you suggest for a background? I am terrible for backgrounds, I almost never do one for any animal drawings I do, so I'd have no idea what looks good with a car.
I'd appreciate any constructive criticism as this is my first automotive drawing (actually, first drawing that isn't fur or scales).
I do have another car drawing I want to do, or at least I know what kind of style I want to do it in; I just can't decide what kind of car I want to do, I was thinking another evo. So if anyone has a nice ride and maybe wants to get it drawn, pm me and we'll talk - I'm willing to give you a print of the finished thing in exchange for some reference pics of your car to use. I am pretty picky about what I like in a car though! (to give you an idea, I like evos and such - street cars) Ooo, or a bike! I LOVE ninjas, mostly the newer ones. So if you have a '13 300r or something like, I'm a sucker for those! (saving up for a 300r myself, hopefully the '14 comes out in white for canada next year...) <3 crotch rockets
