Going on a date downtown and I haven't been going out much lately so I'm not too sure what's good anymore.
Vicious Circle used to be my go to place but I guess they're gone.
Reading reviews I guess Ming's isn't as good as it used to be.
Any other similar cool places downtown I should check out with a big drink/martini menu?

Hit the bar at Xocolat. Dress nice, she will be impressed.

+1 on Model Milk. They have a great menu.

Or Ox and Angela across the street.

Sorry, by cool I mean lots of drinks to choose from. cozy and kinda private, not having to shout to hear each other and interesting decor.
All these places look like they'd be good for a dinner date but it's just a relaxed drink or two.

River Cafe on Prince's Island

Sit by the fire.

How romantic :)

Milk tiger is awesome.
Raw bar has a big selection too, they were closed for renovations, I think that should be done by now.
Oak room at fairmount is pretty good as well.

Milk tiger is more speakeasy cocktail bar atmosphere. But in terms of drinks Rawbar is hard to beat.

I'm a big fan of hotel lobby bars. They have a different vibe than standalone bars. The Sandstone lounge in the Hyatt is my favourite, but the Fairmont is great as well. Legit history, which is uncommon in this town.

+1.

The Oak Room is down right classy. Whenever I go there, I feel obligated to smoke even though I don't.

I actually forgot about this, Oak Room sounds like I need to make a visit.
I'll be sure to check some of these places out but I ended up just going to Ming, it was pretty good. Drinks are still tasty and it was quiet, we were the only ones there.

I've only been to Ming once but I found their food mediocre at best. But I guess it's fine if you're just going for drinks.
