Recently went and picked up a Epiphone HummingBird after reading reviews online about it being a 10/10 guitar for the money. All the reviews brought up a big point of changing the strings to Gibson bronze Mediums.

This guitar is almost identical to the Gibson humming bird (costing 10 times more) except this is not a solid wood guitar, and made in China, where as the Gibson is solid wood and made in the USA. This like Gibson is the PRO model so it as well is an electric acoustic.

Initial impressions with the stock strings was... not good to be honest, the guitar sounded kind of hallow in a weird way. But I bought some strings, and tusk bridge pins to swap in. I ended up spending 345 for the guitar, 5 dollars on strings, and 10 on tusk bridge pins.

Here's the before and after with the string change. Just messing around with recording a few different styles. I should say, there is no EQ or editing of either sound with the recording, just straight raw off the microphone.

All I can say is wow. If you're on the hunt for a great acoustic for the 300-400 dollar range, I strongly recommend this guitar with the different strings and bridge pins.

Oh ya, it's also completely gorgeous for an acoustic.
