They blame the natives, but I'm pretty sure its mostly because its unfeasable to mine at $1,300 per ounce gold and $6 per pound nickel.
Which means that the loonie and toonie will never be nickel again. There was a very small chance that it would be affordable if this project got off the ground.
Gotta pay those Hawaiian welfare recipients so that they can't grow pineapples to charge $16/apeice in Nunavut afterall.
