Thought Id share my experience there:
La Chaumiere serves french cuisine the seafood such as the smoked salmon and crab is excellent but the chicken is flavorless and comes in very small portions. The desserts however are amazing, also if youre looking for a place to sit down and order drinks you'll be spending quite a bit, a small glass of champagne will run you about $10 and a meal about $55-70, you can dine there for cheaper but all you'll have to show for it is an appetizer. The ambience is horrible I felt like I was sitting in a hotel convention room and the service was also very very slow but the waiters are curteous and are good at faking french accents
;)

i agree with redlyne...

i was there with a bunch of people from work after a meeting and i found that the food is VERY overrated, small portions and rather flavourless... this was shared with several of my co-workers as well... especially since we were going to go to Osteria De La Medici in Kensington before some dumbass suggested we go to La Chaumiere

im just glad i wasnt paying for it.

That outside of that restaurant reminds me of a funeral home. But it's pretty cool that they flambe desserts for you right inside the restaurant itself (and not the kitchen).

waiter there spilled red wine on my date, didn't even offer to pay for the dry cleaning, or any discount on the meal. kinda :bullshit: there's other french resturant's in calgary that serve way better food and offer much better ambience.

Although french food does come in small proportions it should be much more flavourful, apparently theres another french restaurant on 17th called Jojo's thats much better, I havent't been there yet however

yeah, he said "sorry" and i guess that was to make things alright. It was close to 1/3 of a glass that he spilled, not like 1 or 2 drops.
