edit - My boss has generously agreed to match all donations up to $5000 max! Let's git 'er done!

edit2 - My boss doesn't qualify for dinner.

As you all know, I've been doing yearly fundraiser challenges. Some of the more memorable ones over the years are my cul-de-sac, car free for a week, and of course shave a lid for a kid (see below).

This year, my gf has volunteered me to run 5km in support of the Calgary Food Bank. For those that know me, I don't run. I'm a couch potato, and I'm expected to die for this challenge. Or at a minimum, puke my guts out. If I do puke, hopefully the cameraman will be close by to catch it all for your viewing pleasure lol.

Please donate if you can to my cause. My donation page can be viewed here:

http://calgaryfoodbank.akaraisin.com/amblewithangus2013/rage2

As per last year, I'll take the top donator + their SO out for dinner at Ruth's Chris. All donations will also get their user ratings upped. And a bonus, my first ever challenge that raise a little over $1k. For the record, my top charity challenge raised nearly $20k.

Thanks everyone!

Hi all, rage2's girlfriend here. You can thank me for putting him up to yet another fun challenge. If any of you would like to join in the fun on December 13th, send me a pm and I'll give you the password to join our team. If there's a few who want to join us, I'll change the team name to 'Time and Beyond'.

Rage, if you live through what happens to you then maybe next summer I can get you a coveted private invite to my friends annual "12x12".

It's a 12km endurance run with the stipulation that you must drink one full beer each kilometer. You have to start with a full dozen and return with an empty one, you're not allowed to discard them.

I'll bet there would be significant investment to charity around here for people to see THAT happen! hahaha

Had some friends wanting to try this last summer just for fun (only 3km/3 beer)…. I’m sure a charity event could be quite epic. Although with 12 km’s/12 beers people might legit end up dead hahah.

Thanks everyone for their donations so far. Nearly $1k overnight, not too shabby! As for tax receipt you should receive it in your email. If not, let me know, I'll help you track it down.

So, I'm going to be doing minimal prep. Today, my prep consists of wearing my track pants to the office. I need to get comfortable wearing these if I want to run 5k in them.

Anything under 40:00 is an excellent 10K time for the "average" Joe. 35:00 would be outstanding.

Average top Olympic times are around 27:10 for men and 30:30 for women if you happen to be born a Kenyan.

Under 40 min for a 10k would be outstanding for a non-runner. I would say that it would be next to impossible for most without a year or two of training.

Yah my two friends ran a big 10K charity thing earlier this year, they ran times of 36:xx each, which was top 5 in the age category IIRC.

While the one guy was training he tried to average 37:30 10K and he's in pretty damn good shape... far from an "average" runner
