So I just got to drive my bosses Trubo PT Crusier, that is an awesome car. It is one of the Tangerine Orange Dream Crusier 2 Edition. Of course I didnt get to see what it can really do because he is after all the guy who signs my paycheck. But just driving it like normal, holy crap that thing has some kick to it. The third gear in that thing is like nothing else I have ever driven. If you ever have a chance to drive one of them go for it.

It was great.
Steve :)

they are still nasty ass vehicles.... too bad anyone who buys a car like that is not looking to go fast they are lookin for a way to travel from point a to b, with some bake sale goodies, or maybe evena few kids with soccer balls.

I guess they have the same motor as the SRT-4?

You guys shouldnt be calling them a POS , when members have those cars , and ur rides aint the best and no one is calling them a POS

The SRT4 engine is amazing, but it's going into a boat of a car. The PT cruiser isn't exactly a compact car. I had a go with a normal PT cruiser (not the GT) the other night and I was very disappointed. That car is gutless!

Exactly...I mean the same can be said for ANY car that members may own...As well as any mods we place on them...

To each his/her own

Talk all you guys want to about this car, but the guy who owns this car can buy any porsche or mercedes he wants and he choose this one so there must be something good about this car.

Your right it is gayer than a pink balloon, but a 2.4L Turbocharged engine pushing out 215 HP sure isnt gay.

Do they have any after market parts for these cars? I bet it is easy to get 250HP out of that thing with some mods.:burnout:

Hmmm.....I WAS thinking of doing an SRT-4 up once I'm done with the Lancer, but now that people are slagging the PT, I might do that so that I can roast the hatters in the fag car:guns:

i'm sure all of mopar's factory tuning applies to this engine too.. stage 3 = 300hp w/ a warranty doesnt it?

Thats ok, I'd take the trooper over your car, anyday. I was just pointing out the fact that he has a trooper because a trooper has little go and is basicly only good for going to the store and picking up kids with soccer balls.

driving a dodge off the lot voids the warranty... worst company to get any warranty work done IMO... But the PT Turbo is a cool car for the cost.. still not as gay as a jetta though (no offence to amyone)

With any company the warranty usually depends on how the warranty advisor feels like on that day.

It's more of how you present the problem than the problem itself.

You go in bitching and you'll get treated like a bitch.

Never had any problems with DC's warranty.

Mopar Performance Parts also do not void your warranty.

Aftermarket parts do not void your warranty. They may void the part that breaks because you put in an aftermarket part but your whole warranty is not void because someone put a fart tip on.

Use common sense.

LOL I love reading all the hate people have for PT's. Anyways the Dream Cruiser 2 (aka Tangerine Dream) is a great set of wheels. 215 HP right off the lot, ability to move 4 people in comfort or you can change the seating and have as much room as an SUV's cargo area. With the turbo upgrades, you can get your car north of 250HP for about $2000 more. Yes its the SRT-4 engine in there. Technically since the PT Turbos came out before the SRT-4, one could say its the PT Turbo engine in the SRT-4

The look is a matter of taste of course, but I love it - not plain and boring like most cars but with the styling lines of some of the greatest styled vehicles of the past. Anyone who says its gay was probably looking at the ass end of it...

The non-turbo automatic is a bit of a slouch but the 5 speed isn't gutless - it can do high 16s in the quarter mile which isn't bad for a non-sports car. Stock PT Turbos can do mid 15's and with the upgrade can get into the 14's.

Oh yeah, I'm jealous :guns: :guns: I can't wait to get my aftermarket turbo installed :bigpimp: :whipped:

Might also mention the horsepower is known to be underrated on that engine.

All in all, PT Cruisers are slow. Doesn't matter if they are turbo or not, they are slow. I personally don't mind the look of them.... They just need a better set of rims cause personally i think the factory ones are fugly.

Did i mention they are slow?

LOLOLOLOL you're soooooooooooo funnay!!! They are slow lol nice 1

Wait that's fucking bullshit :dunno:

For a vehicle that isn't sold as a sports car, its pretty fast. I can do 16's with mine and its non-turbo. The turbos can get into the 14's. What's your definition of slow?

Wookey
03-05-2004, 12:21 PM
15 seconds is slow. Can i see some proof of a completely stock PT Cruiser Turbo doing 14's please?:nut:

Straight from car and driver. ENOUGH SAID.

With its wee little turbine spinning 14 pounds of boost, the dyno dials churn to 215 horsepower at 5000 rpm and 245 pound-feet at 3600 rpm—a gain of 65 horsepower and 83 pound-feet. The initial batch of PT Cruiser GTs (nickname: PT Turbo) will all be mated to Chrysler's four-speed AutoStick transmission (a Getrag five-speed manual arrives in December), so our test car's transmission was an automatic. A relatively low torque-converter stall speed makes it difficult to lay much rubber down in a drag-strip start, but we managed a 0-to-60 time of 7.2 seconds and a quarter-mile of 15.7 at 88 mph. Our last automatic PT ambled through those milestones in 10.9 seconds and in 18.2 at 75 mph. Top speed climbs from a drag-limited 105 mph to a governed 120, and the 50-to-70-mph passing time drops from 7.6 to 4.7 seconds—useful on a twisty two-lane. Chrysler's engineered-in turbo also handily outran an aftermarket bolt-on Stedebani turbo we tested on an automatic PT Cruiser in September 2000. That one needed 8.0 seconds to reach 60 mph and 16.4 seconds for the quarter.

15.7 on an auto tranny and you say its slow  And the non-turbo automatics are slow, I've already said that, but if speed is important you won't have an auto anyways :dunno:

Wookey
03-05-2004, 12:38 PM
Even if it was 5spd, it would not hit 14's thats for sure. So where's your 14 second stock pt cruiser? oh yeah i remember, its still half way down the strip and im already past the line. hehe sorry just had to throw that in there.

again so funny. seriously if you are comparing it to your car, which has been modded like crazy and started life as a sports car versus a PT Cruiser which started life is a retro compact sedan in bone stock form. Speed is an added bonus with the car, not the reason for its existance.

I'll try to find track slips but really what will that prove? My point is its not a slow car. Its not going to destroy any true sports car at the track but its not a slouch either.

C&D talks about the small turbo - turbos on 4 cylinder engines should be small so they can spool up instantly - which is exactly what the turbo on the PT GT does.

Wookey
03-05-2004, 01:13 PM
ok we can talk unmodded cars. stock 91 RX7 Turbo does 1/4mile in 15.1 seconds. Which is still not that fast. If they turboed the car i would expect to see better numbers then 15.7.

You've edited your post since I posted. You said the RX-7 stock does 15.1 then you said that's not that fast. My point is for a sports car, yeah one could expect a faster 1/4 mi but that's looking at it from a sports car perspective.

A PT Cruiser isn't a sports car. So a 1/4 mi in the 15's is rather impressive.
