Bought a 3Tb hard drive (G:/) and ~750gb of it is useless because I can't allocate it.

Help?

What version of Windows are you running, and is it 32 or 64 bit. I ask because your system may not support more than a 2 TB drive.

When you right click on the G drive, is the option to extend the partition grayed out? If so, the above is likely correct.

32bit or 64bit won't make a difference.

The issue is you need to format the drive using GPT tables not MBR. This is an option you can choose when you are setting up the drive in windows.

Yea 32bit/64 bit applies to memory addressing. 32bit wont allocated more than 3GB of system ram.

Windows 8 NTFS supports up to 256 TiB disk space and 5 billion files. I think youd run out of files first personally.
