Job Description
The primary purpose is to manage and deliver the discipline scope of work for the JPM portion of the project and to work with the other disciplines to deliver a totally integrated project, per the BoD, on time and within budget. This position will report to the JPM Construction Manager.

This position will initially be located in Calgary and mobilizing/relocating to Fort McMurray during execution
Reporting to the JPM Construction Manager the Construction Engineer main responsibilities will include:

•Support the Area Construction manager to deliver the construction scope of work related to the design, fabrication, installation and commissioning of major projects in Oil Sands (preferable).
•Act as an interface with the engineering organization to support design and provide constructability input.
•Accountable for the cost, schedule and quality of the discipline scope of work.
•Manage technical interface issues between disciplines, related to construction.
•Assist in planning and scheduling of execution phase of construction activities
•Familiar with Brownfield construction site in process operating facilities
•Ensure field work is carried out following approved HSE procedures taking into consideration that safety is paramount and part of the owners team this candidate should lead by example.
•Support QA/QC/Flawless initiatives for the project
•Ensure the employment of best practice work processes, design tools and fit for purpose approach.



Requirements:
•Engineer with more than 10+ years project/construction environment; ‘Brownfields’ environments, preferable in the Oil Sand Industry
•Experience with leading Front end Development, engineering and project management within multi discipline projects
•Ability to work independently to solve issues
•Positive attitude to promote safety and environmental awareness in the workplace
•Project management and Familiarity with Project Management Systems

Job Description


Responsibilities:
•Demonstrate a commitment to HSSE and show leadership to foster appropriate behaviors and ensure compliance with HSSE rules and policies.
•Contribute to design and drafting efforts and support the Field Facilities Project Team
•Support the design for CCP 1 & 2, contribute to delivering the integrated design (FEED + Detailed design) for pads and distribution and gathering system forecasted to be installed up to 2030.
•Production of civil and structural, Piping/Mechanical drawings using MicroStation and other design software’s
•Carry out modeling in PDS of various structural components civil and structural works
•Interpret Engineers sketches & produce drawings independently
•Review 3d and 2d design and participate/assist in model reviews
•Working towards deadlines set by Project Engineers
•Responsible for the quality of production
•Implement MOC control through the project life cycle to handover
•Ensure that lessons learned are taken into account in the design, adequate operational input is obtained when needed
•Actively work with other disciplines including subsurface, project engineering and operations to deliver safety and value to the project. Work in close cooperation within the project engineering design team to support consistency of design around interfaces.

Requirements:
•Minimum 5 years Civil & Structural, Piping & Mechanical detailing experience.

•Structural basic design knowledge required
•Working experience in onshore EP projects with exposure to complexities of integrating Surface Facilities, Field/drilling activities is preferred
•Familiarity with International and Canadian codes and standards as applicable to the Oil and processing/mining industry and with the Shell Standards and DEPs

Job Description

The predominant Civil sub-discipline for this position is Structural Engineering, relating to the required structures within oil sands plants, tailings, other surface facilities projects. Additional civil sub-discipline support includes foundations, geotechnical, buildings, site investigations, bridges and earthwork scopes. The successful candidate will act as a focal point into the larger Civil/Structural engineering community for those sub-disciplines as experience requires.

Responsibilites:
•Provide Civil – Structural Discipline engineering support for development and execution of projects within the Projects and Technology Facilities Engineering Team. The Civil Structural Engineer will work within a project team environment to deliver safe, reliable and cost effective facilities. This position will predominantly support Canadian based Heavy Oil projects. Responsibilities will include;
•Provide technical assurance of Civil - Structural related designs through appropriate application of Shell technical standards and specifications, regulatory codes and standards, implementation of Shell’s Discipline Controls and Assurance Framework (DCAF) and review of critical design deliverables and activities produced by various Engineering Consultants.
•Provide guidance and assistance to Engineering Consultant discipline engineers in resolution of technical issues, including the provision of Shell Operations and Maintenance and Integrity experience and constraints.
•Ensure schedule and cost considerations are included in design decisions,while maintaining primary responsibility to assure safe and appropriate quality designs.
•Ensure Civil – Structural activities are executed in alignment with Shell’s Project Delivery Roadmap and Opportunity Realization Process.
•Develop strategies/conceptual designs during early project phases
•Audit construction field activities for compliance and assist in resolution of field non-conformance issues as required.
•Ensure design meets requirements of Shell’s Health Safety Sustainability Environmental Framework
•Design and develop, as required, innovative technical approaches to issues and contribute to continuous business improvement initiatives (fit for purpose).
•Support a project portfolio with individual projects ranging in size to over $1B each with a project manager,simultaneously executing multiple projects.
•Strive for cost competitive designs while maintaining technical assurance and ALARP (as low as reasonably practicable) safe facilities,working effectively with multiple stakeholders including Project team members, Operations, Asset Integrity, Engineering Consultant’s, and external parties



Requirements:
•Professional engineer, Bachelor Degree Civil Engineering
•10+ years experience in structural engineering
•Skilled level technical knowledge in one or more areas within the Civil discipline
•Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering would be beneficial
•Experience in other civil sub-disciplines such as foundations, buildings, bridges, roads, drainage, site investigations and earthwork scopes would be beneficial.
•Experience in oil sands, and/or oil and gas projects would be beneficial.
•Experience on Shell projects and familiarity with Shell standards would be beneficial

Job Description

The purpose of the position is to support the Field Facilities Project Manager - Carmon Creek phase 1 & 2 during the integrated design (FEED + Detailed design), and fabrication and construction phases.

The Field Facility project Engineer will work in a multi-disciplinary team and interfacing with other functions to deliver a fit for purpose design in the local environment.

The project scope includes drilling of vertical wells, design and construction of wellpads, distribution and gathering systems, a Central Processing Facility (CPF) including electrical power and steam generation facilities (Cogen), and associated infrastructure development.

CCP1 and 2 is a multi Billion $ venture currently in the Integrated Design Phase, with target startup in 2017.


Responsibilites:
•Demonstrate a commitment to HSSE and show leadership to foster appropriate behaviors and ensure compliance with HSSE rules and policies.
•Produce project management deliverables pertaining to the Field Facilities for the Define and Execute phase of the project as specified in the Project Assurance Plan.
•Support the delivery of the Field Facilities scope to AFE/FID (budget, schedule, deliverables quality).
•Support execution of the Field Facilities Project - from AFE/FID approval to construction, ensuring Engineering deliverables and tagged equipment / bulks meet required construction milestones.
•Contribute to the development of the procurement and construction contracts.
•Work with OR&A team to support activities to develop commissioning and start-up plan and schedule and Operational Implementation Plan (OIP) of the Field Facilities.
•Ensure that lessons learned are taken into account in the design, adequate operational input is obtained when needed and that there is sufficient robustness in the design to cope with transient conditions (i.e. start up, shut downs, etc.).
•Actively work with other disciplines including subsurface, project engineering and operations to deliver safety and value to the project. Work in close cooperation within the project engineering design team to support consistency of design around interfaces.
•Demonstrate support for the corporate position on Sustainable Development, safety, health, environment, diversity, respectful workplace and the General Business Principles and Code of Ethics.

Additionally, the candidate is expected to be able to:


•Demonstrate leadership skills, able to supervise and coach.
•Promote and implement simplification, standardization and replication.
•Work in a team environment with a distributed team and handle multiple responsibilities with minimal supervision.

Requirements:
•Professional qualifications preferably in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering (at BSc or equivalent).
•Eligible for Professional status from APEGGA as a P.eng.
•Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in the oil & gas industry with exposure to engineering design, procurement, fabrication, construction, start-up, and operational experience of similar facilities.
•Experience in onshore EP projects with exposure to complexities of integrating Surface Facilities, Field/drilling activities.
•Familiarity with International and Canadian codes and standards as applicable to the Oil and processing/mining industry and with the Shell Standards, DEPs and Ors.
•Good team player.
•Results driven; able to set own priorities and independently deliver upon them.
•Experience in heavy oil development is a plus.
