I lost one of my damn keys today. Anyone on here have hook-ups for replacement keys? It's from a 2013 Jetta. I'm sure the dealer wants a zillion dollars. It's just a fixed blade key, not a FOB, but it does have a transponder and a little light in it. Fuck me.

just a regular valet style key will run you about $100 from a dealer + programming.

Which comes out to $200 for a friggen key. They'll charge an hour labour to program regardless if it takes 5 minutes. :banghead:

That sucks man, I only have one key for my gli and am absolutely paranoid about losing it or locking it in the car.

5 minutes of the right tool and knowledge is worth an hour.

:( that sucks man... call a few dealerships. I found northland VW to be cheaper for parts for some reason.

that is the way the world works. not just the automotive industry but almost every service industry has a minimum that they charge for particular services...

If you can get your hands on a key, there's a guy out near Chestermere who can program it for you for ~$60:dunno: . He regularly posts on Kijiji

Be sure to get the lost key disabled or somebody may have the potential to stress you out.

when you get your new key programmed, the dealer (or whoever is doing it) reprograms all the keys you own, so the old key will no longer start your car.

it would still be able to open your doors though.

I was you, with only one key, but I found out I could buy a key that will unlock the doors only for $10 from the dealer. Good remedy in case of locking the transponder key in the car imo.

So why don't you do it yourself? Oh, that's right, because you didn't invest thousands of dolalrs in the equipment to be able to do it :banghead:
