2014 Corvette Stingray

Autoobsessed performed a new vehicle preparation detail on this brand new 2014 Corvette Stingray, left untouched from the dealership as per customer request. The exterior underwent a full decontamination wash including iron removal, engine bay detailing, glass polished and coated, wheel off detailing with coating, polish and finally wax application using Swissvax. The interior surfaces were detailed and the leather was prepped and conditioned.

We used the Swissvax Leather Kit to clean and condition the leather, Link to kit (http://www.autoobsessed.com/shop/swissvax-leather-care-kit-se1042690-p-833.html). The wheels were nano coated using Gtechniq C5, Link to Gtechniq C5. (http://www.autoobsessed.com/shop/gtechniq-wheel-armour-15ml-p-1035.html)We removed imperfections and buffing markings from handling and production, giving the paint the clarity and perfection that the factory just doesn't do. Achieved by using the best equipment and products, Rupes Polishers Link to Rupes. (http://www.autoobsessed.com/shop/rupes-m-122.html) To provide a deep and durable shine so we went with Swissvax's Shield wax, with non-stick PTFE, Link to Swissvax Shield wax. Wow. Just wow! Anyone who can make GM paint look good deserves an extra few points in my book!

Nice. I don't understand why there are swirls already off the factory.

Mass production vehicles do not go through the same intensive paint inspection like super exotic sports car do.

you mean mass production GM... ;)

depends if they did a pdi car wash or not, supposedly the owner said no, do corvettes come wrapped in white plastic during delivery like the german cars? pulling that off carelessly could have scratched the car

Yes, they come wrapped in a white cloth from the factory and keep that until they are delivered at the dealer.

Some of the paint defects on this Corvette and other new vehicles are not just from delivery and handling. The manufactures may have to do spot polishing and touch-ups and they just do them fast and do not final them. The lighter grey areas we have pictures of are just that and are from polishing at the factory. We see this on GM to Ferrari if the dealership does not fix them or fixes poorly.

Overall European and Japanese cars do usually come in better condition than domestics.

At the end of the day most assume that a new car does not need any work, the owners that understand this are the ones that bring the cars to places like us so that their car is delivered the way it should be and is protected.
