It certainly is... its like the Japanese Humvee. Wow I had NO idea such a thing would apparently fetch $80-100k CAD though... wowzers.

Super cool we can finally get R34's now.... so many cool cars.

Between $3,000-5,000. Shipping is about $1,200 plus their are a ton of small fees and taxes as well as duty.

I knew a guy who brought over a car from Japan and he paid $4,400 for the car, and $1,100 for fixing stuff to get it registered and with the cost bringing it over he was into it for $11,000. So hopefully that helps.

The r34 GTR's you can expect to be 20k+

The s15's are 10-15k depending on trim level

I clicked on your first link when this thread first popped up, expecting to find more JDM haha.

Just curious though, some of those were really expensive... like the same price as a B6, B7 S4 bought locally off kijiji or something... why on earth would you go for an older one, with what I would assume to be a less reliable boosted engine (correct me if I'm wrong). :dunno:

Those toyota supra's are pretty badass - I had friends when I lived in NZ that had them.

My room mate had a toyota cavalier - I thought it was the gayest looking car ever - and then I came over here in 2007 and they are everywhere.

Car enthusiasts in NZ loved modifying the nissan pulsar hatchbacks as well. Not sure why - they look pretty standard compared to the rest of those cars.

The 4.2 V8 in the 6 & 7 is heavy, is VERY expensive to F.I, and is slower. That said, the B7 RS4, is one of the sexiest looking cars ever.

The reliability problems with the B5 S4, befall the stock KO3 turbos, they often fail before 100k.
265hp in S4 and 400 in RS4.

The B5 RS4 has stronger engine internals, K04 turbos, bigger intercoolers, put together by Cosworth, and comes in a package that is just right in size imo. Add to that the amazing euro recaro's, steering wheel, and the widebody, and it's why I desire it so.

For example, since the B5, the A4 has grown in size considerably. Bringing us to present where the new A3 (MQB) is very similar in size.

Give the autoscout car search link I posted earlier a peek.

I found a few for <€15k; and a bunch more under <€20k
I figure you'd be all in for <$35k CDN.

That makes more sense to me now.

Personally, I'd still have a lot of trouble paying that much money for a vehicle that old (with who-knows-what type of service history), but I can definitely see why someone would want one.

Is there really one in town? As far as I know there aren't. I heard that there was someone passing their A4 as an RS4 but not an honest to goodness B5 RS4. If there is I want to see it :)

I thought the appeal of importing a RHD over here is that those individual's would otherwise not be able to afford a similarly equipped LHD performance car.

I understand the appeal of the R34, but you'd spend >$20k on a RHD? Silly.

R32 GTR - 43,934

R33 GTR - 16,422

R34 GTR - 11,310

Because the R34 Gt-R is "THE" Gt-R

The stuff F&F dreams are made of

In the UK they are going for around 30K pounds for a good low mileage example...

God I'd love a blue garage queen

and an S15 to drift exits and crash into guard rails

Ya, it has nothing do with production numbers.

40,000 R32 GTR
16,000 R33 GTR
12,000 R34 GTR

Oh, Zipdoa already covered it.

Very basic way of looking at it, as it's certainly manageable, yet needlessly accommodated. You're disadvantaging yourself in many road scenarios, harder to obtain OEM parts, insurance premiums, and negative label from the mass.

If it were such a desirable type of car to acquire, those who truly know cars would acquire them in much higher allocations than the sub $10k models we see in the streets of the NE today.

That said, the collector who acquires one at >$40k, already has a quality collection that the R34 would compliment.

I know on skylines there are alternatives to the OEM headlights which are adjustable to Canadian standards. The originals cannot be adjusted to point the right way, so anyone with these on their car should technically fail inspection. I dont know about other RHD, but I would assume that the adjustment screws are different even if the model was offered in NA.

The key around it is buying kei vehicles so you can drive on the left hand side of the lanelike honda beat and Subaru sambar. Honda beat is a breeze to drive a I have never directed headlights as it's so low you don't get any complaints at all for incorrect beam pattern. Headlights work fine, it's not the best solution, but I think it's fairly minor.

Yeah they have a lot of Kei vehicles I'd like just as commuter vehicles or those Sambar trucks for the farm (etc). Some of the turbo Kei cars/suv's wouldn't be that bad... still slower then a pregnant sloth, but not entirely unusable for our streets.

That was always my view. JDM Civic/RX7/Supra/etc that were available here but you wanted a JDM because it was cool/cheap doesn't make sense.

Skyline/Evo/etc that were never available here at all, it's not really an option to get a LHD

In Japan the market value for a decent R34 GTR is still around 40K.

I hate jdm cars so I'm in no way trying to defend them but what doesn't make sense is your statement.

Buying a jdm vehicle because it's cheaper makes perfect sense. If you can't afford a lhd but really want a specific car why wouldn't you get one.

JDM is not working anymore for cheap stuff. You only get junk. Or you win the 1:100 lotto. Anything good gets priced up....Germans on the buy path.

I love te Sagaris as well. It's pretty much like the UK's version of the Viper, but better looking.

I know a few people that have used B-Pro, as well as met the guy running it himself, seems pretty good.

I've heard they use pacific coast auto as their exporter? A friend of mine has brought in a car through pacific coast recently and even got to go to auction with the guy who runs it when he went on a trip to Japan last year.

Anyone picked their JDM car up from the port? Any advice? Trying to sort through everything I need and such. One thing that concerns me is I need to make an appointment in advice to be allowed into the port, but if I'm arriving via taxi I also need to give them the taxi's company name as well. Cept I have no idea what taxi I'm going to get?

Other than that I'm expecting to need a few things. Possibly a battery? and fuel as well likely. Going to get winter tires on it anyways so I'll do that when I'm there.

Just need to make sure I can drive out of the port then can deal with whatever afterwards.

Don't suppose anyone lives around Vancouver and wouldn't mind a bit of running around for an hour for some cash?

Edit: Trying to figure out how to deal with a dead battery. I can't exactly bring a booster pack on a plane there and even if I buy one they usually must be charged prior to use....

^ I used a booster pack straight out of the box as I had no other option and needed to get to work. Luckily it worked lol and I was on my way.

I've seen 3 or 4 S15's come in through Edmonton's auto port, even drove one to the front gate for pick up by owner.

I'm in love is all I can say. Pretty much any import that comes in the yard fresh from rail, sea, Japan, etc. gives me an instant hard-on. I won't deny that. I've seen:

Evo III, IV, V
WRX Type R Coupe
555 V Limited WRX STi
S14/S15
S13 180sx Type X Kouki
MK4 TT Supra (RHD)
R33 Skyline GTS-T's, GT-R's
R34 Skyline RB25 single turbo RWD and one with an automatic trans + naturally aspirated
Accord SiR-T
EK9 Civic Type R / EF Civic SiR > unavailable in North America...so to the guy who said RHD Civics are a waste, you're kind of right, in the sense the car would be stolen the day after you got it home.
Integra Type R ^ like above
Tons of BH5 GT-B/S4 twin turbo Legacy's...$5k cheap + AWD/STi fast so go figure
JDM Toyota (Aristo, Altezza, GT4 st205 Celica etc.)
Tons of touring mini vans (Delica, Space gear, whatever)
Tons of off road capable 4x4 Toyota landcruiser prado, Mitsubishi pajero EVO, cr-v, rav4, forester turbo, Hilux etc.

Most of the above, for around $10k or considerably less, those cars are a bargain considering how much better the Japanese regulate the condition of their vehicles...or am I missing something? I'd sooner trust something that was driven on well kept Japanese roads than say, on s*** pothole icy snowy eroded roads here under the ownership of a spoiled kid with moneybags dad.

Yeah, PITA but worth it to some unless you aren't picky and grab something already landed by a reputable source...in Edmonton I currently keep an eye on JDMConnection and AuthorityImports and they seem to keep a good stock both in Japan and locally.
