Weird dates on carproof Report

I was checking out a few vehicles and have noticed a few of them sometimes have odd stuff going on with the dates in the carproof reports.

For example, if you check out this ad below and then look at the report, you'll notice that is was registered on Dec 14, of 2011. Then a few lines down you see that on June 6, 2012 it says "vehicle manufactured and shipped to dealer".

So how does it get reported to carproof that it was registered 6 months before it was actually built?

No guesses? Is this maybe some sort of fraud?

My guess is that was the date the VIN number was first registered by Ford. The vehicle would have taken several days to make, process, and then eventually ship. Who knows where it sat between there. June 6th could have been the date when it finally shipped from Ford to the actual dealership where they take ownership?

I'd understand a few days or weeks, but this was registered and on the road 6 months before it was manufactured, according to the carproof report.

"vehicle manufactured and shipped to dealer" was reported by an Independent source. I'm guessing the rental agency received a bulk order, and the dealership that sold them missed receiving that one VIN, and did it several months later.

I find it highly unlikely a 2012 model year wasn't received at a dealership until halfway through 2012 (when they should have been receiving 2013's by then)

You're right, it doesn't make sense. In June of 2012 they would definitely be pumping out 2013 models.

Carproof and autocheck have the same information. I emailed carproof about it to see what they can discover.
