View Full Version : I have never seen a guard rail so wrecked!

Came upon this just south of Cross Iron today. Buddy must have been flying to take the guard rail out like that, especially in his little RSX. Claimed the sun was in his eyes and never saw the turn until it was too late.

All the stanchions that the guard rail attached to were either sheared off at road level, or split in two when the bolts pulled out. ALL of them, with the exception of 4 or 5 at the far end of it.

Either way, if that guard rail wasn't there, he probably would have cleared the QE2 and landed in the far ditch. Was kinda funny, he was wearing a calgary hot rod jacket, and walked away without a scratch.

Tell him I'll give him $1000 for it, my Teg could use a K20

Ouch, that rail probably saved a few lives.

Wow.. that excuse will never hold up.. I couldn't see the turn? BS... I've driven that road a LOT and there's no way you can't tell there's a turn there. Buddy was racing his little car and lost it then got real lucky.

Looks like that worked just how it was supposed to. Rail is destroyed and the driver isn't. Yay for engineering!

Impressive. Sad for the RSX though, they are good little cars.

Sun was in his eyes so bad that he didn't see a turn, yet he continued driving fast enough to do that much damage? :nut: Glad he didn't kill anyone.

Should be noted the driver was in his 50/60's....I was laughing at his jacket which said Calgary Street Rod Association.

I saw a AMA tow truck do the exact same thing in that exact same spot last winter during some heavy snow.

From that picture, the sun doesn't even go parallel to the road....

so he was rubbernecking and then got blinded?? :dunno:

We passed that when they had the tow truck out there. Pretty obvious he was going far too fast for the turn.
