Seeing as how my girlfriend and I eat sushi so much, we are thinking of just making our own at home to possibly save a couple bucks and avoid the packed restaurants on weekend evenings.

Anyone else make sushi at home? Where do you buy your ingredients from? We've only made sashimi so far from T&T's fish in their sushi section, but would like to experiment and make more types of rolls.

I think you can still buy straight from city fish. I'm pretty sure they provide fish for alot of the sushi restaurants in Calgary. I know we've bought Uni from them before.

For rolls you need a bamboo type mat, check youtube for how-to do the rolls, it's rather easy really. It is the rice that will be the harder part of the DIY, you need sushi rice obviously and nothing else works very well. Sushi chefs live and die by their rice, it is not so easy to make for us mortals.
