For those of you that have it, how has it been?
What do you like about it? What do you hate about it? Reliability issues?
Currently looking a 2010 X3

2010 was the last year for that generation of X3. The 28i's were a bit under powered and didn't have much for features. If it's a 30i it will have blue tooth, nicer 18inch wheels and the high hp inline 6. They're simple compared to a current model X3 but immensly reliable and have that original BMW feel to them with the stiff steering.

Just had my entire cooling system replaced in my '06 3.0i. They also replaced the oil filter housing gasket while they had the front torn apart. Seems mine had been leaking for quite a while.

I think 2004-2006 had the M54 motor and 2007-2010 had the N52?

Get the 3.0i

Drove the X3, Q5, GLK, and RX350.

Q5 > X3 > GLK > RX350 is how I ranked them overall. X3 was pretty good, the 335i motor was it's best quality (not sure if 2010 got the turbo). It's competitors do most other things better, IMO. I wouldn't buy one without the I6 TT.

Ah, my bad. I still really liked the vehicle, but IMO the whole package was rounded off better once you had the turbo motor.

I would try to find a Wagon over the first gen X3.

The ride is stiff. It's heavy.

spend a bit more and get a second Gen.

A friend has a 2010 X3 3.0 M Sport and has had a few issues with it.

The panoramic sunroof drains plugged up and there was several inches of water in the foot wells. Calgary BMW being who they are at first declined to do anything about this on good will or warranty under the CPO program. She has a friend in management at the dealer and eventually had it dealt with but not without a fight. She is not convinced that the car is completely fixed to this day is it still gets damp in the rear on occasion. This is a known issue.

Air conditioning went out on it this summer also and they fixed that under warranty. I believe it was a condenser issue.

The Stealership also recommended her a 4 wheel brake job to the tune of $1500 at 60,000km which she did not knowing. I doubt all 4 rotors and pads front and rear required replacement at 60,000km so if you do buy one of them, find a good independent shop to service it as both local dealers own their reputations.

Brakes need replacing on BMWs around 60K, full pad, rotor repacement is important. $1500 isn't bad at all considering it's all oem parts and labor.
