View Full Version : Rail Dust removal on new vehicle?

Just picked up my new truck, and noticed it has some rail dust on it. Very hard to spot, just familiar with this being visible on a white vehicle. Anyways, the dealer offered to take it to a body shop they use to remove it. However, I have had some very bad issues with this body shop, and the dealer, and in order to avoid the hassle, and making sure it is done, I was thinking I could do it myself.
Does anyone know of a product or cleaner I can use, scrub on the truck like soap that will remove this? Years ago when I worked at a dealership they had a chemical they would use, but no longer do this service. I know its not just on white, but for some reason, now that I have seen it, it is on my mind.
Any help would be great, thanks!

Iron-X will remove it quite well. I had a white vehicle covered in rail rust (fallout), and it came out perfectly.
I have not been able to find it locally and it is currently sold out on eshine.ca, but google is your friend.
Other then that, a claybar will also take it out, but it can be a lot of work if it is a large area.

I'd highly, highly recommend Iron-X. This stuff worked wonders on our white Lexus and is extremely easy to use.
It just smells :barf: lol. I purchased mine through Auto Obsessed....highly recommended BTW!

Ya, I would almost recommend wearing a mask with iron-x.... it is not healthy to be inhaling.

Iron-X works great!!! But make sure you either:
1) Make sure your driveway is completely wet, otherwise Iron-X may stain it. Even better, have water running below your car so it'll rinse off the driveway as you apply Iron-X.
2) Move your car on to the road and apply it there (even more illegal than the option 1).
While you are at it, you can also apply Tar-X.
