Not strange in that interest is taxed at 20%. What is strange is that it is on *all* incoming transactions (even if you state it as just a simple money transfer to a relative or from one bank to another for example)
And, it will also be automatically deducted from the accounts affected retroactively to Feb 1.
If you sent money to Italy in the last 15 days, the government just took 20%.
