The Palliser, The Banff Springs, and Priddis Golf Course all do great brunches if you're ok with buffet style.

Not Classy but damn delicious is The Palamino.
Brisket eggs benedict makes me weak.

Not classy and doesn't do reservations, but Overeasy Breakfast Co. has without a doubt the best breakfast/brunch in Calgary.

This man knows what's up. I would eat here daily if it wasn't for the long lineups and 2000+ calorie meals.

Takeout is available except on weekends. I get Hogs'n'Scallops on the daily during the week.

Doesn't meet OP's criteria, but Galaxie Diner on 11th st has by far the best hangover brunch I've ever had. Bacon eggs benny every time!

I'm biased, but the eggs benny is just killer. House made hollandaise... mmm....

It's always so busy there, even right at 7am on the weekend it's nearly full. Or on a Tuesday morning at 10am - I'm like, don't these people have jobs?!

I find that before 745AM on weekends the line-up is pretty quick (~5min), or else I go right at 2:45PM just before close. Mauro hit me up with a free triple breakfast the other day because I eat there so much!

OEB menu looks killer.

Anyone been to the brunch at deerfoot casino lately?

OEB is great I LOVE the benny and the benny boxes they do, However recently the lines are just too long so I've been headed to Johns breakfast on 4th nw, he used to be the breakfast cook of the establish that used to be there then eventually took it over. Its a very basic breakfast but always perfectly executed when compared to smitty's, denny's, nellies, and phils or other average joe places.

Yep. Those Edmonton trail places are great. Carino/OEB/Diner Deluxe/BigFish, Cerezo. I recommend them all.

DT: Monki Bistro omg so good.

However I have been finding myself at Ricky's a lot recently. :nut:

Haha just a low key place to chill, read a paper, eat some food without having to wait in line with all the hipsters.

Carriage house by far for me..I wasn't impressed
with Diner Delux at all. Overpriced and it took forever
to get a table. Plus it's a hipster mecca

Thank God I'm not the only one who doesn't like Diner Deluxe. I just find it incredibly greasy

Their stuffed hash browns are fantastic. I like to go for breakfast at places like Ricky's or a pub so I can have a pint with my bacon and eggs.

I like Fegus and Bix west springs for brunch. The steak bennies are fantastic, no line or hipsters to deal with.

Tried Carriage House Inn and it was quite good.

ANybody know when Belmont Diner in Marda loop is supposed to open? They had a fire last summer, and its been closed since. Which sucks as its so close to me, and the food is epic. :(

Hmm, Ill have to try Carriage House, sounds like a great place to go.

I don't know if it will ever reopen. They said they were going to start rebuilding inJanuary, but There is a thick layer of dust collecting on the space. For now their website encourages you to visit their other related businesses: Avenue Diner and Galaxie Diner.

In that area, I suggest Fergus and Box for their breakfast burrito.

Avenue Diner is sadly no more. She temporarily moved to Toronto and has decided to open up shop there.

Their eggs benny were the best in town too :(

I went to The Carriage House this morning. Had reservations for 10:00, a very pedestrian meal for $25 each without tax and tip. Baked goods, cakes, etc were no better than Safeways or CostCo, coffee was the equal of Nabob, dried out waffles and pancakes sitting in a covered and heated tray, eggs benny again in a heated tray (who does this?). I'd rate it a 5 out of 10, the brunch at The Mirage or any major $$$ hotel in Las Vegas being an 8 or 9. Never rated any place a 10 other than a handful of joints in Victoria, Montreal, Italy, Japan and Taipei.

Would I ever go back? No. My standards are higher than most though and shit holes I've banned before... members of my family keep going to for years.

West Springs location remains closed for renovations until sometime in February. Marda Loop location remains open (brunch Sat., Sun., and holidays 10-1, looks good), excellent burger and a craft pint for $10 on Monday nights from 4. I normally end up having a couple of pints.

I like Deerfoot Inn's Sunday Brunch, and also the Grey Eagle's. Grey Eagle is cheap, lots of fresh fruit in excellent condition, and always full containers. Went to Smugglers one time...absolutely gross. Cold, containers were almost empty all the time. Never go back.

have to post here as yesterday we probably had one of the most tastiest brunch in Calgary, I love OEB (and pacific hut when craving a filipino breakfast) but IMO this place takes the cake

Vero Bistro in Sunnyside
http://www.verobistro.ca/home

http://www.tripadvisor.ca/Restaurant_Review-g154913-d1119735-Reviews-Vero_Bistro_Moderne-Calgary_Alberta.html

I was wondering why it was rated #1 restaurant in Calgary so I had to give it a try.
the bacon, sausage were perfect and tasty, best croissant I ever had and made fresh every morning, even coffee was flavorful.
price was a little high though (ie eggs benny, only 1 egg is 18$! but we sure wouldn't mind going back again

wedding pavilion is back open for brunch I heard they have a new chef.

I love Vero for brunch, but it's not a typical brunch it's a menu'd brunch.
Still love Bolero for brunch.

Ahhh that makes sense!! I'm there every weekend and this past one, it was obscenely busy! I couldn't figure out why.

If it's rated #1, im going to have to start making resos for brunch waaay earlier

For what it's worth - best brunch in the city for me:

#1 Monki
#2 Vero
#3 OEB
#4 Farm
#5 The Fine Diner (Their bacon is amazing)

I've found Vendome in Kensington has really nice breakfast, though I guess it's not technically brunch. Went there a few weeks ago only to find it out it's closed for renos!

My opinion:

1) OEB - their breakfast boxes are amazing and I think their potatoes are by far the best breakfast potatoes I've ever tried.
2) Ox & Angela - also great potatoes (patatas bravas) and my foodie wife raves about the blood orange hollandaise sauce on their Benny. They also take reservations so no waiting in line.
3) Brasserie Kengsington - Feeling like you want something rich and decadent? Try their breakfast poutine...
4) Blue Star Diner

I've been meaning to try Monki...

we went Saturday morning at 10am, we were the first in but by 11am it was starting to get crowded.
I think we will go at Vero from time to time though since they take reservations.

Vero Traditional for $16 is what I would recommend on their menu
(berkshire pork sausage, wild boar bacon, 2 poached eggs, olives, croissant and home made jam)

Monki is pretty good too but be prepared to wait in line but at least they give you coffee to warm up.
their mac and cheese is awesome, so is their brisket & monki sausage hash

The Fine Diner menu looks great, might try that next:thumbsup:

So to rehash, +1 for Galaxie.
