Feel like being lazy and catching a few flicks this weekend. Seems like I've barely seen a movie in ages, but there never seems to be anything out that interests me. Anyone watch anything good lately that's available on dvd or high quality torrent?

I am in this too! And I will throw in Netflix as an option for choices as well!

All available in 1080P right now:

Captain Phillips
12 Years a Slave
Hunger Games Catching Fire
Gravity
Ender's Game
Iron Man 3
Man of Steel
Thor: Dark world
Jackass: Bad Grandpa

Lots of good stuff, I'm sure I'm forgetting some.

Captain Phillips IMO was 10/10.

Iron Man 3 and Jackass are absolute must watches.

Iron Man 3 in surround is deadly.

Prisoners is one of the better newer releases I've seen recently.

Probably too new (saw it in theatre a couple weeks back) but "Jack Ryan" is an excellent film!

OP what are your top three movies of all time, roughly? It gives some idea of the direction you run in.

Really hard for me to pick a top three. The Departed was deff a top one for me. Im not really a big movie guy though so dont really have huge favorites. Love all sorts of movies though.

Watched 12 years a slave tonight, it was ok but definitely overrated.

Started Captain Phillips last night but there was no sub titles for the Somalis? I turned it off thinking that was wrong?

Watched Winters Bone on Netflix.

It has a young Jennifer Lawrence. It was pretty interesting take on how hill people associate.

Lol, I hate it when I download a torrent that has no subtitles. I always hope it's only a small scene or two, but then have to shut if off 1/2 hour in because it has significant dialogue in a foreign language.

I agree. Prisoners was one of the best movies I've seen in a longggg time. Was a bit thrown off with the ending though.

My copy of Captain Phillips had selectable English and French subtitles for the Somalis. Make sure it's turned on in your player, and not defaulted to "Off" if you use a WDTV.

If you liked The Departed, try The Town with Ben Affleck... it was actually pretty good.

Prisoners was "meh" in my opinion.

Even tho a movie maybe released in 1080p does not mean its for Region 1. Many movies come out for other regions before and will only have certain languages or subtitles or no subtitles at all.

If a movie is still in theatre chances are its not released for Region 1 yet.

Seriously?! Just because it's popular doesn't make it bad. It's an exceptional film.

I didn't say it was bad, just that it was ok but overrated. Definitely not deserving of the 8.4 or whatever it has on IMDB. Has nothing to due with it being popular.
