Oh my god!! So awesome, thank you. Have wanted this to happen for years, keep missing it on TV. Last year was the first time I missed going to Merritt in a long time, is the Big White Rally not part of this series?

The Big White Winter Rally is part of the (regional) Western Canada Rally Championship, so unfortunately we have had very little meaningful coverage of any sort besides press releases. Still doesn't mean the competition isn't great with 30 people (not to toot my own horn, but I did come 4th this year ;) ).

I actually have almost every televised event in Canada (including from the 90's) on hand... might have to start posting them up if I can get permission to :D

I can easily host the 2005 and up CRC seasons though if they aren't already on line. I'll do some digging tonight.

Very nice, congrats on 4th! That looks like a fun race, I wish there were more events in B.C.

There is not enough local advertising for those events, is there just no money and no point in having spectators? Or not enough for advertising? I have never heard or seen a single ad for the Merritt rally and despite going for years still meet people in Merritt that don't know it's going on. Every year I think that if more people knew then thousands more would come, There is a huge car culture in the Okanagan.

Please let me know if you do post those races up, I know a bunch of people that would be interested.

Well, not to bog this thread down too much but in regards to the races in general:

BC has three events (normally 4) as of now; Pacific Forest Rally based in Merritt, the now on standby Mountain Trials Rally (Merritt), the Rocky Mountain Rally (Invermere) and Big White (Kelowna).

Merritt is actually incredibly active participants in our events held there, especially for PFR. Lots of promo material is handed out and all of the cars are on display central downtown during the event. There are lots of newspaper articles (not just in the Merritt paper, but surrounding area papers as well).

Spectators are hit and miss for rally. Obviously, we want people to spectate, but from an organizing perspective, there is no way to control the crowds as they can basically do whatever they want as the race is held in public essentially :dunno: So do you spend time catering to people who realistically don't provide a ROI to the event? Or do you first try and cater to the people who are already there/sponsors/TV show? It's a struggle! And with so few volunteers (even though accommodations are typically covered, as well as food), just making the events run is difficult. But do not take this as saying no to more people; we definitely want them!

The most important part in showing your support is to like, follow, share, and tweet about it!

Like and share! Send Subaru Canada emails/post on their walls and twitter accounts that you love this stuff (Subaru Canada is a major backer of TV). Same with Yokohama.

And if you are really committed, convince people to spend a day coming out and volunteering (we always need the volunteers!)
