View Full Version : Should I buy this car?

I know its the wrong forum to be posting in, but I can't post in marketplace yet so this will have to do. Do you recommend I buy this vehicle (link)? I would drive it in the spring, summer, and fall. I really like the fact that its cheap and can have a lot of people in it + the low kms. It just seems like a fun and practical vehicle for the summer. I would probably uss the guy down to about 3,500 and get him to include subwoofers. I would be running two vehicles, my escape for winter and then this car for the other seasons. Is this practical? Is this a scam? I would obviously get it inspected and such.

***I know the ad says hes asking 6500 but I offered 3500 and he said he would do that likely***

That is a shitty vehicle before the guy fucked with it. Despite how many payday loans he's poured into it, it's actually worth less now than stock.

It appears he's looking for trades, which is good. Will be a reasonable deal if you can trade a) cars that don't run, b) cars that have no engine or c) R/C cars.

Ideally you have an RC car without a motor that you can trade, that will really tip this deal in your favour.

Good luck, and if this is the kind of vehicle you are actively persuing, may god have mercy on your soul.

What is even up with this thing. You aren't getting the full truth.

The front end on this thing isn't even a normal front end. Why would you put a isuzu front end on a Chevy? :nut:

This is one of those stay far far away things.

That truck was built 10-12 or so years ago in Edmonton or Grande Prairie. its been for sale at least 6 times since the original owner had it. The bagged mini truck market is really hurting, 3500 is even a little much to pay.

No inspections required in BC. But in Alberta trying to get that to pass inspection could very well be extremely difficult.

I dont really see the problem with this car, if its not to your taste then thats your problem not mine. I just dont see any actual mechanical problems with the car, as I said I would get it inspected and see if there are any problems. If there were any then obviously I would not buy it.

How do you know this? Also what is the problem with this truck that so many people have tried to sell it?

Not sure how 3500$ would buy me anything short of an amazing sound system. Not sure if you're trying to be a prick to impress people on the forums here. If thats the case than I suggest you rethink your life.

Stop being an idiot and walk away from this piece of junk. If something like this interests you...pay the money and buy a stock one in great shape. Then poor whatever you have left and do it yourself and do it right.

If you insist on buying this....at the very least....get a carproof/fax.

I came across an 04 Acura TSX. Guy was asking $4800. I offered him $4000 flat and he took it. Gave me a half ass history on it, lots of things didn't add up.

Long story...carproof confirmed me the guy is full of shit. Car was originally BC, then AB, then BC, then back to AB. Bunch of accidents and the a vandalism hit. Oh and also the car was stolen and written off before too. As for the guys story about owning it for a year+ but just not having time to drive it...carproof confirmed it was bought at an auction...like 2 months before he tried to sell it as "his" car and needing money for school.

B.C. also has OOP inspection requirements.

How do expect to get it inspected? Are you seriously going to buy something like this without a carfax? You can't trust that this thing was built properly (I suspect not).

If you think the guy will get it inspected without getting a price increase good luck. Secondly if he does get it inspected, how do you know if he won't get it inspected by some fly by eight operation just to get you shut up?

We helped save him from a beat to shit, multi owner, 15 year old bottomless pit of maintenance. Those cars were garbage when new, never mind 15 years later. The thing is worth less than an inspection which it would likely not pass.

Still a helpful thread despite the jokes. Probably saved him thousands of dollars.

I know this because the mini truckin scene and amount of bagged trucks in this province is very small. Everyone knows everyone.

I dont know why its been for sale so many times. Probably because guys like you buy something they have no idea about and then cant find anyone to fix it when it breaks.

Be grateful for this one bud, past the inside jokes and snide remarks, you got some sound advice here, I know some of us would agree they wish they had a beyond.ca when they were 16, I know I would've.
