View Full Version : When does the euro car 6.1% duty go away?

I regularly import cars from the stats for my own use. With the dollar this low, I'm less inclined to do so, but it still may be worthwhile.

What's always annoyed me is the 6% duty on the germans.

With the new trade deal, I'm assuming this will go away, eventually. Do we know when that will happen?

Because I want something like this:

I didn't think the new trade deal was ratified yet? Also, it will take policy makers a couple of years to put some language to the proposed deal. Coles Notes: don't hold your breath

It won't go away immediately, it will go lower in % every year, over 7 years.


The EU's 10% tariff on Canadian-made cars would gradually disappear over seven years, as would tariffs on Canadian auto parts.

Canada's 6.1% tariff on European cars would drop to zero over the same period.
