Curious how this works and waiting to hear back from the insurance company so figured id ask.

Curious about car B

Car A is stopped in a merge lane due to traffic
Car B rear ends car A
They get out and exchange info.
Whiled stopped Car C hits the rear corner of car B and drives off but later stops at a police station and gives a statement admitting the accident.

Car B only had plpd / fire theft no collision and from the collision is basically a sure fire write off. But what happens due to the damages caused by car C? Would we expect to get some compensation from the rear damages caused by C?

Car B will have no coverage for the damage to the front end of the car but Car C's liability coverage will pay for the damage to the rear of Car B. Car A is the only one in this group that won't have any at-fault liability.

Is the most damage to Car B on the front end or back end?

It blows my mind that unnecessarily stopping in a merge lane doesn't pass fault along to that person. I'll never understand that.

Car B would be a write off from the front end damage alone, bumper head lights hood air bags. Rear end was probably a write off as well rear bumper one light quarter panel and trunk

You might be in tough then. Because technically the vehicle was already damaged on the front end when car C hit the back end, at that exact moment car B is worth significantly less. You should still get SOMETHING for it though. Who are you insured with? What has your broker told you so far?

Not me, she's with intact. We sent things to her insurance, guy didn't know either and had to go talk with some other brokers. They decided to file a claim with Car C's insurance and see. Even if the car is a write off it still has value as a part out which is now significantly dimished so id expect they should cover something ... At the very least half the towing and impound fees etc?
