I started working with Acura 4 months ago and at first the ILX didnt really catch my eye. I was set on a TL - AWD 6 speed manual but at this time in my life its a little over my budget and my manager told me there was no more manual TL's in western Canada.

My colleague was looking to trade his ILX for a TL AWD and I jumped on the opportunity to take over his lease.

The car: 2013 Acura ILX Dynamic with 9000kms, all stock

Planned mods:

-tint
-K&N Typhoon Intake
-H&R springs
-Lamin-X headlight and foglight film
-RV6 downpipe

When I drove it home from the dealership:

After tint:

Installing springs:

Now onto the "mods" haha...since this car is still pretty new mods are very limited. I could only find minor bolt ons

K&N Typhoon intake

RV6 DP

Rear camber kit, P2R throttle body spacer, lightweight pullies

Had the headlight tint briefly, took it off because I wanted the brightness of my headlight

Then after 2 months of ownership, got rear ended....by a dump truck right in the middle of Crowchild on a blue sky sunny day :(

the difference between the dynamic & tech/hybrid is crazy, a lot more fun than the tl imo

Absolutely! Dynamic vs Tech / Hybrid is totally different. The ILX is more fun to toss around but TL I think handles better cause of the SH-AWD

I have both cars in my garage at the moment. In practical use the ILX is great for whipping around the city. It feels really small compared to the TL. It almost has a nice nimble feel about it. That said the TL is a much smoother car and SHAWD is fun in all weather conditions. The ILX you sometimes feel a bit dicey taking it out after a fresh dump of snow.

You have a Dynamic as well? What year is your TL?

How does the car sound after installing the down pipe? Any plans for future exhaust upgrades?

After the DP, it sounds much louder. Its quiet at cruising speed but once you let off the throttle, it drones. It literally sound like I have an aftermarket exhaust. With the intake, the power is noticeable

It was really stupid cause it was a sunny blue sky dry day! I was in the middle lane NB Crowchild heading up to Mcmahon stadium. All of a sudden the lady in front of me stopped quickly and then I braked. But then truck behind me couldn't stop in time.

What I think happened was and I see this all the time, drivers on the far left lane (University exit) always cut into the middle lane last minute cause traffic to slow / stop at the bottom of the hill.

Nice! I like that the ILX filled the CSX gap, haven't seen many modded ones yet but i'm sure that'll change this summer, good looking sport/luxury compact. They've come a long way since I remember working at the dealership, boring ELs and CSXs lol

iirc these particular K24s use an integrated exhaust type design (nonsense imo), it eliminates the headers so I guess it's sort of a 'downpipe'

Aboslutely, how are you finding the after market parts for it? It seems there isn't much to offer...maybe too new?

Barely anything hahahha. I was hoping honda would come out with a lip kit but nothing.
Stock its fun, the motor has plenty of power. Handling is amazing.
Probably keep this car. I was going to mod it but the wife stole it from me hahahaha I rarely get to drive it.

Like an aero kit? Doesn't Honda offer the HFP pkg? I do like how there's more low end torque than the K20 but it doesn't rev as high...:(

Side note: How do you do a multi quote?
