NOC Analyst
Network Operations Team, Calgary

In this role, you will be required to work independently on a wide range of assignments. Included in the attributes we are looking for are:
• Ability to deal with stressful situations.
• Must be available for shift work – the NOC is staffed 24/7, 365 days /year.

• Ability to work on multiple processes at a time.
• Team-oriented.
• Typing 25 WPM.
Roles and Responsibilities
Monitoring:
• The Alberta SuperNet network (HP OpenView NNM, Cisco Transport Manager, CTM).
• Secure access control (DPS Telecom products).
• Calgary Data Centre (Facilities Monitoring System).
• Ticketing queues (HP OpenView Service Desk).
• Maintenance and Co-ordination:
• Tracking Change Management activities.
• Reporting network changes to appropriate group.
• Co-ordination of network troubleshooting.
• Tracking of ongoing network issues.
• Reporting of daily events.
Advanced Operations:
• Maintenance of Intelligent Alarm Mediator (IAM System).
• Configuration and Maintenance of NetGuardian site monitoring units.
• Canoga Perkins media converter configuration & implementation.
• MRV media converter configuration & implementation.
• SED installation acceptance testing.
Troubleshooting and Service Recovery:
• Issue escalation via established Path.
• Troubleshooting of network issues.
• Troubleshooting of customer-reported issues.
Proficiency in tools used:
• HP OpenView (Network Monitoring).
• HP OpenView Service Desk (trouble ticketing and inventory).
• Juniper OS (Junos)
• Data Site Facilities Monitoring System (environmental monitoring).
• DPS NetGuardians (remote environmental monitoring).
• DPS Intelligent Alarm Monitor (controls NetGuardians).
• Canoga Perkins (media converter and control software).
• MRV MegaVision (media converter and control software).
• CAD Drawings.
• TACACS (authentication).
• Cisco ONS (Monitoring software).
• MS Windows Suite.
• DNS CNR Network Registrar.
Qualifications
• Telecom/Engineering grad (tech college diploma) or equivalent industry experience
• Cisco Certified (CCNA or above)
• Juniper (JNCIA Nice to have)
